Launched in 1999, Samudhaaya Foundation began its service to society by the first contribution towards the Kargil war’s Defence personnel.
In the 25 years of its journey the Foundation has funded for various causes, some so unique, that it only encouraged me to continue looking at wider vistas for a sustained approach. Thus, was born Shiksha Samriddhi last year.
Fifty deserving students coming from economically disadvantaged backgrounds have been identified across three schools in Chennai, who are in their 10th and 12th standards. These chosen students are being given monetary assistance for their school fees and books and any additional coaching fees until they complete their graduation.
In continuation to last year, on 1st September this month, I visited the three schools, and handed over donor cheques for the education of 50 students across these schools.

Words fail to assist me in expressing my feelings. An entire afternoon was spent hopping across to the schools and meeting the children and faculty. One school, despite being in the centre of a busy area, was nestled in one of the nooks that I had to get off the car and take an autorickshaw to reach the school. And it only baffled me that there are still students who come to study in such constrained environments! It has spurred me even more to widen the scope for Shiksha Samriddhi.
Wishing all these youngsters and the faculty that tutors them all the very best to do brilliantly and contribute to our nation.
