The Story of Us
Once upon a time, four girls met at Amelie’s Creamery in Chennai and decided they wanted to do something that leaves a legacy. They knew they believed in gender equality and were feminists at their core, but they needed a platform to express themselves and to do some good. The Girl up Campaign of the UNF was the perfect opportunity and it was just a google search away. Sitting there, in Amelie’s on a Sunday afternoon, charting our next steps in uncharted territory, we knew what was brewing was something bigger than just the four of us - it had to be. The uncertainty excited us - because it brought with it hope! A month of pitches, negotiations, video conferences, and presentations later - here we are, Stella Maris, has a Girl up Club and is, in it’s own little way, now a part of a global network, of strong, diverse young women leaders who want to make a difference in their communities, just like we do!
It might have started with the four of us, but the mantle will be passed on, as will the stories and lessons as progress is made and inherited.
