Thuvakkam NGO successfully conducted a three-day Summer Life Skills Programme at Manikandan Park, Kundrathur, bringing together children, parents, community members, and volunteers for an engaging and interactive learning experience. The programme was designed to strengthen essential life skills among children through experiential learning activities that encouraged confidence, communication, teamwork, and critical thinking.
The first day focused on creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. Interactive activities such as Pass the Smile and Two Truths and One Lie encouraged self-expression, social interaction, and team bonding among participants. The second day centered on communication skills, helping children understand the importance of both verbal and non-verbal communication. Through activities such as Passing the Message and Active Listening, participants enhanced their listening abilities, clarity of expression, concentration, and interpersonal understanding.
The final day focused on decision-making skills, guiding children to make thoughtful and responsible choices in everyday situations. Through engaging discussions and the This or That? activity, participants explored decision-making related to education, friendships, responsibilities, and healthy habits. The programme concluded with Passing the Parcel, an activity that promoted attentiveness, participation, and teamwork.
Throughout the programme, children displayed remarkable enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to learn. The sessions provided a valuable platform for personal growth, meaningful interaction, and skill development in a fun and supportive environment. Through initiatives such as these, Thuvakkam continues to create opportunities that equip children with the confidence, communication skills, and decision-making abilities needed to thrive and contribute positively to their communities.
