A Non-Governmental Organization is aimed at aiding society and healing it's vices and upholding it's virtues. Conceived with the intention of giving back, the group has humble beginnings, fueled by the passion for change. With all the headline

s in the news showing a degradation of the values of our community, it is our decisions that will shape the future, from what it is to what it will be. Rather than waiting for the promised better days, we the youth have decided to Begin ourselves, a "Thuvakkam" for the betterment of society. Our name, "Thuvakkam" which has roots from Tamil, precisely in English translates to 'A Beginning'. And as for our watchword "Exceeding limits" we stoutly proclaim that we are primed for exceeding the hindrance that we face in this contemporary globe for the betterment of our society. We believe that this initiative inculcates an attitude of selflessness among individuals which prompts them in creating a Future that every individual dreams of. .

The ground has started moving at ESLF Plantation, Okhla, Delhi

Machinery work has now begun on our 1.7 Ac. site adjacent to the Okhla landfill in Delhi, marking the first real step toward what will become a dense, native-species urban forest on land most people only associate with waste.

This effort sits under Thuvakkam’s Mission 80, launched as India marks its 80th year of Independence. Our inaugural plantation drive goes live on 22nd August 2026, where 1,000 saplings will go into the ground with volunteers and other partners standing alongside us.

But this is only the beginning. The site has capacity for far more than this first phase and we’re actively looking for CSR partners who want their impact rooted in the ground, not just a report. Presenting our Weekly Roundup!

Another week of meaningful volunteering, environmental action, and collective efforts towards creating . From planting 4,200 native seeds at the Thazhambur nursery to adding 600 native saplings at Kammeta, our volunteers continued to contribute for and strengthen existing urban forests through tree maintenance activities.

As part of HCLTech Foundation Day, THUVAKKAM in association with HCLFoundation organised a plantation drive at Harit Upvan, Kammeta, Chevella, Hyderabad, on 11 August 2026.

With 60 HCL volunteers, we planted approximately 600 native trees and engaged in a biodiversity activity to identify and understand the native plant species at the site.

Together, we took a meaningful step towards strengthening biodiversity and supporting ecological restoration.

We thank HCL Foundation and all the volunteers for their valuable contribution towards a greener and more sustainable future.

That was our Day! Finally, the Thuvakkam Sangamam 2026 blasted the air with happiness and joy, marking the stepping of the organization into the 13th year of making change in the society.

We were glad to celebrate our Foundation Day on 15th Aug 2026, the 80th Independence Day of India, here in the Community Hall of Chintadripet, Chennai, with all of our employees, their families, our Advisors, Board Members, Volunteers and other stakeholders with whom we share a mutual bond of relationship.

With our beloved Teammates, we shifted the focus into fun, and more expressive way, as we rocked the stage with the immense talents pooling into the Iyal, Isai and Nadagam themed where we sang together, danced together, acted together and set the stage on fire.

As our traditional practice from the 10th foundational year, we also honored the Changemakers who play an impactful role in society under the Be the Change Impact Awards 2026.

We also had our most prestigious Thuvakkam awards presented to our teammates who had outperformed and stood significant in turning the tables and driving the mission of Thuvakkam through their seamless commitment towards work.

It was truly a remarkable evening where we shared our laughter and joy along with our beloved families and friends, making the day a very special one to cherish in our hearts!

We’re happy to share that Thuvakkam’s urban greening initiative in Kundrathur, featuring the planting of 2,000 saplings, has been covered by Kanchi Times.

The initiative aims to strengthen green cover, promote environmental sustainability and create healthier, greener neighbourhoods for future generations.

A meaningful step towards a greener Kundrathur made possible through the collective efforts of government officials, local representatives, community members and volunteers.

Freedom Through Impact | Mission 80

Thuvakkam, in association with Chennai Cyclists, brought families and volunteers together at Butterfly Forest, Taramani, for a meaningful green action!

As part of Mission 80 – Freedom Through Impact, 25 volunteers came together with their families to plant 60+ native saplings, adding more life and greenery to our urban landscape.

Mission 80 is our initiative to celebrate India’s 80th year of Independence not just by remembering our journey, but by creating meaningful impact for the future.
