The artist and the performer are two very subtly different personas. Many opportunities call for the presence of the performer, who in varying degrees caters to the pulse of the audience and expectations of the venue and sponsor. It is very rare to be asked to dance as an artist AS IS. To be able to create in a space that welcomes irrespective of judgment and expectation. Thank you Anita Ratnam akka for letting me do what I do naturally - not under the expectation of lineage or nostalgia - but allowing me to perform in the present - in the presence of my self. It was not a night of needing to prove myself repeatedly to the spectator, it was a night of introspection where I was as my own audience. All of us were so graciously and warmly welcome in your home and space. Really missed my grandmother and particularly my mother that night. Thank you all at Narthaki Studios! Thank you once again. 🙏🙏🙏
