A day that will not be easily forgotten. Our beloved resident, Smt. Sivakami Amma, passed away today at the age of 99. Even at her ripe age, she was remarkably independent, managing all her own activities. While walking today, she suddenly developed chest pain and breathing difficulties; she breathed her last on the way to the hospital, peacefully mingling with the eternal air.
It has been a profound shock to us all. To think that someone so vibrant, who was just walking and talking with us, could be gone in a matter of minutes is difficult to grasp.
Sivakami Amma was a backbone of this institution and a pillar of support for our founders for the last 25 years. she joined us when the Ashram was just a humble collection of thatched roofsβa time when water was fetched by hand and cooking was done over logs and twigs. She witnessed and shaped our growth from those early days into what we are today.
A teacher by profession, she was a friend, philosopher, and guide to many. Countless children benefited from her academic coaching and moral education. Our Navaratri Kolu celebrations are simply unimaginable without her presence.
She lived at the Ashram with her 64-year-old daughter, who is a differently abled child and cared for with unwavering devotion. After a lifetime of staying busy and serving others until the very end, she has now taken her permanent retirement from this world to be with the Divine.
She was an ardent devotee of SAI. We offer our deepest prayers for her soul to attain Satgathi. May her soul rest at the lotus feet of Sai. π
She leaves behind a legacy of strength and grace that will continue to bless us all. π
