A proud moment for Damien Foundation India Trust 🙏

In Sasaram/Kaimur, a rural “hospital of hope” has transformed lives— 804 persons affected by leprosy have undergone corrective surgeries in the past 13 years.

By bringing specialized care closer to communities, we are restoring mobility, dignity, and independence—reducing the need to travel to big city hospitals.

On the occasion of World TB Day (24th March), meaningful awareness activities were conducted at the Damien Foundation Leprosy and TB Hospital, Nellore. Patients, along with students from Narayana Nursing College and the dedicated staff of Damien Foundation India Trust (DFIT), came together to spread awareness about tuberculosis, its prevention, and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.

Adding to the impact, the DFIT team actively participated in the World TB Rally organized by the District TB Centre, Nellore, reinforcing our collective commitment to a TB-free future.

Together, we stand united in the fight against TB — raising awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting healthier communities.

The World TB Day 2026 theme is “Yes! We can end TB: Led by countries, powered by people”.

World Leprosy Day 2026 - “Leprosy is curable, the real challenge is stigma.”

Leprosy stigma is consistently raised by persons affected by leprosy as one of their most significant challenges.
• Stigma affects daily lives:
• Stigma causes people to lose their jobs
• Stigma means people are forced to leave their homes
• Stigma is the reason people are turned away from family and community life
• Stigma keeps children from attending school

Leprosy can be treated completely with early diagnosis.
But fear, myths, and discrimination continue to affect lives.
This World Leprosy Day, let us:
✔ Spread awareness
✔ Break myths
✔ Stand for dignity and inclusion
