Below is the small introduction about our group and various activities done by us. We are a group of Volunteers from various walks of life who have come together for a Noble cause. It started almost ten years back when we first thought of helping the poor and the needy. We have from then on developed by leaps and bounds with various Philanthropists and Kind – Hearted People joining hands as one Un

ited Community in the Service of Humanity. We have named our Monthly Event Team, consisting of our volunteers, as “The Origin”. Below are the list of Activities carried out by our group “THE ORIGIN”

1) Providing Monthly Provisions for Poor / Orphanage Home.

2) Providing Individual Educational Aid for the School / College students hailing from Poor families.

3) Providing Medical Aid for the needy people.

4) Providing Food Expenses for the Physically Challenged Working Women.

5) Providing Dress Materials for the Children of the AIDS / Poor / Orphanage Home

6) Conducting Eye Camps for Government / Free Schools.

7) Providing Sarees / Chudidars / Stationery needs for the College Studying Visually Challenged Girls.

8) Free Books Library Setup for Poor / Orphanage Homes

9) Providing Medicines / Health Mix / Fruits for the Old Age People in the Orphanage Home.

10) Providing School Fees / Uniforms / Shoes / School Bags for the inmates of the Poor Orphanage Home / Poor Physically Challenged Students.

11) Providing Milk for the inmates of the Poor / Orphanage Home

12) Providing Self Employment for the Mentally Re****ed Persons

13) Conducting Special Classes (Tuitions) for Government School Children.

14) Arranging Scribes to write the exams for the College studying Visually Challenged students.

15) Arranging Reading Session for the College studying Visually Challenged students, to read out their academic subjects.

16) Writing Assignments & Doing Project Work for the College studying Visually Challenged students.

17) Conducting Career Guidance Program & sessions on “How To Prepare for & Write Exams“ for X & XII Standard Students.

19) Conducting Cultural Events in the Poor/Orphanage Homes

20) Providing Unpaid Rents for the Orphanage Homes. We maintain Open Account Sheets, having list of donations received / expenses incurred. Government Children’s Home for Girls is situated @ Purasawakkam, Chennai, provides care and support to poor,orphaned,semi-orphaned,missing, and destitute children, as well as women rescued from immoral trafficking. This home ensures free food, education, shelter, medical care, and other basic essentials for 55 girls between the ages of 5 to 16. As requested by home management, we are planning to provide 3 sets of Inner Wears, at an estimated cost of Rs.24,000/-.

SPONSORSHIP REQUEST - ONE DAY EDUCATIONAL & CULTURAL TOUR FOR 50 TRIBAL & UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN TO MAMALLAPURAM & DAKSHINA CHITRA HERITAGE MUSEUM (26 APRIL, 2026) ESTIMATE BUDGET (RS.38,000/-)

We are organizing a one-day educational and cultural tour to Mamallapuram and DakshinaChitra Heritage Museum on Sunday, 26th April 2026, for 50 Tribal & Underprivileged children.
- 25 children are from the tribal hamlet of Mevaloorkuppam village (Kanchipuram District), home to nearly 50 poor families.
- 25 children are underprivileged students from Tamil Nadu Government schools and beneficiaries of the free tuition center run by The Candles NGO.

This initiative aims to provide these children with meaningful exposure to heritage, culture, and learning experiences beyond their daily environment. To make this possible, we are seeking sponsorship support to cover transportation and food expenses, with a rough estimate of Rs.38,000/-

This event is organized by THE CANDLES and supportes by CVNS, VINMATHI TRUST, HELP THE NEEDY, YOU ARE NOT ALONE & THE ORIGIN team.

We came to know about Pujamary C, who needs our help to pursue her education. She hails from Chennai. Her father expired and her mother is working as Receptionist and she is the lone breadwinner in her family. She has one younger sister who has completed 12th Standard. She scored 537/600 (89.5%) in the HSC Exam. She is studying B.E. Aerospace Engineering in K.C.G. College of Technology, Karapakkam, Chennai. Already we had paid partial 1st, 2nd & 3rd Year partial tuition fees and now she barely needs our support for her 6th Semester Exam Fees of Rs.4,050/-. This candidature was referred & verified by our volunteer Bhuvana.

We came to know about Wilson Arulraj C & Javin C, who need our help to continue their education. Both of them hail from Villupuram. His father, who was an alcoholic slapped her wife several times in the ears and she lost her hearing capability. Three years back we provided a Sewing Machine for her survival, with which she can manage her family's household expenses. Both kids are studying in their 9th & 6th Standard in John Dewey Matrix Hr. Sec. School, Villupuram. For the past two years we have been supporting these kids education fees. Now, they barely need our support to pay Term 3 fees of Rs.8700/- & Rs.7,500/- respectively to continue their studies

With immense gratitude, we would like to share an update on the generous support extended during October 2025 to December 2025, amounting to Rs. 69,181/-. This towards educational aid, Deepavali & Christmas Celebrations and support for daily needs of underprivileged children and individuals in need.

Highlights of Support Provided:

1) Day to Day Things – Rs.16,516/-
Supported by providing day to day things for 40 Visually challenged women (Working Women - 30 / College Studying Girls - 10) at Tamilnadu Association for the Blind @ Tondiarpet, Chennai

2) School Fees – Rs. 7,500/-
Paid 2nd Term fees for Geffery S, a semi-orphan poor boy in 6th std (Father expired due to Corona) at Daniel Matriculation School, Poonamallee.

3) Sweets & Savories for Deepavali Celebrations - Rs. 6,950/-
Distributed Sweets & Savories as part of Deepavali Celebration to Tribal & Rural Children and their 50 families in Padur & Mevaloorkuppam Village in Tiruvallur & Kanchipuram District

4) School Fees – Rs. 11,000/-
Paid fees for Dharshini M, a semi-orphan poor girl (lost her father a few months back) studying in 11th Std at Kaligi Ranganathan Matric Higher Secondary School, Perambur, Chennai.

5) School Fees – Rs. 8,700/- & Rs. 7,500/-
Paid 2nd Term fees of Rs. 8,700/- and Rs. 7,500/- for Wilson Arulraj C (9th Std) and Javin C (6th Std) studying in John Dewey School, Villupuram (Father alcoholic, Already Provided Sewing Machine for this family survival)

6) Sweets & Savories for Christmas Celebrations - Rs. 3,815/-
Distributed Sweets & Savories as part of Christmas Celebrations for 40 Visually challenged women (Working Women - 30 / College Studying Girls - 10) at Tamilnadu Association for the Blind @ Tondiarpet, Chennai
