Lodge Satsang 396, Grand Lodge of India Official page of Lodge Satsang No 396, Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free & Accepted Masons of India. From non-attachment comes freedom from delusion.

The word ‘Satsang’ is a compound word of ‘Sat’ and ‘Sang’ meaning ‘Truth’ and ‘Commune’, and in the truest masonic spirit, when conjoined ‘Good and Virtuous Company.’

Satsang can mean being in the company of a guru, or in company with an assembly of persons who listen to, talk about, and assimilate the truth. Traditionally, it involves listening to or reading
scriptures, reflecting on, discussing and assimilating their meaning, meditating on the source of these words, and bringing their meaning into one’s daily life. Bhaja govindam Verse 9 says:
Sat-sangatve nissangatvam nissangatve nirmohatvam
Nirmohatve nishchala-tattvam nishchala-tattve jivanmuktih

Meaning, good and virtuous company (Satsang) gives rise to non-attachment. With freedom from delusion, one feels the changeless reality. Experiencing that changeless reality, one attains liberation in this life. This has been the premise and the founding principles on which Lodge Satsang has been founded.

🇮🇳 A Day of Patriotism, Brotherhood & Celebration 🤝

A wonderful day of patriotism, fraternity and family togetherness as Lodge Satsang No. 396 and Lodge Wisdom No. 477 came together for a memorable Flag Hoisting Ceremony & Onam Celebrations at the Satsang Freemasons' Hall, Chennai.

The national flag was hoisted by V.W.Bro. Alwar Sethupathy, the Worshipful Assistant Regional Grand Master of the Regional Grand Lodge of Southern India.

The occasion brought together brethren and their families from both Lodges, making it a truly special Masonic family get-together filled with warmth, fellowship, fun and laughter.

From the solemnity of the Flag Hoisting to the joy of being together as one Masonic family, the day was filled with smiles, laughter, cherished conversations, karaoke and beautiful memories.

The celebrations were further enriched by the release of two notable literary works authored by our esteemed Brethren:

📖 Bro. Dr. Pradeep Balaji, renowned Neurosurgeon, unveiled his book, “Brain on the Rocks: Light-hearted Conversations with a Brain Surgeon”, offering an engaging and insightful perspective on the human brain through a blend of medical knowledge and light-hearted conversations.

📚 R.W. Bro. Chinnasamy Ganesan released his poetry collection, “மகளதிகாரம் – Magalathigaaram”, a literary work celebrating the beauty, emotions and profound dimensions of the bond between a father and daughter.

It was a wonderful reminder that Freemasonry extends beyond the Lodge room — it brings together brethren, families and friends in the true spirit of Brotherhood and fellowship.

As part of the Universal Brotherhood Day celebrations, Lodge Wisdom No. 477 organised an enlightening session on the topic: “Forging Meaningful Bonds in the Digital Era”. Lodge Satsang No.396 is also happy to be part of this programme.

Held on 28 June 2026 at Satsang Freemasons’ Hall, Mambakkam, Chennai, the event featured Dr. A. V. Anoop, Managing Director, AVA Group of Companies, as the Guest Speaker.

The session was a wonderful opportunity for brethren, families and friends to come together, reflect, learn and celebrate the spirit of Universal Brotherhood — Together in Harmony, United in Humanity.

On 24th June 2026, on the occasion of Universal Brotherhood Day, Lodge Satsang No.396 & Lodge Wisdom No. 477, jointly organised a blood donation camp, in collaboration with Voluntary Health Services (VHS).

All blood collected supports Thalassemia patients, particularly children, who require frequent transfusions every 2 to 5 weeks. VHS's dedicated Thalassemia Transfusion Centre provides care for 250 children who rely on this critical and lifesaving support.

Right Worshipful the Regional Grand Master of the Regional Grand Lodge of Southern India - R.W.Bro. Doraiswamy Dhamodharaswamy, graced the occasion, along with Worshipful the Assistant Regional Grand Masters of the Chennai Area, V.W. Bro. Alwar Sethupathy & V. W. Bro. V.Chandrasekaran.

On Sunday, May 3, 2026, Lodge Satsang No. 396 and Lodge Wisdom No. 477 hosted the Eleventh edition of the “Under the Bodhi” Symposium at Satsang Freemasons’ Hall, Mambakkam, Chennai. Conducted in a hybrid format, the symposium brought together Brethren from across India and overseas under the thought-provoking theme, “Freemasonry – A Transformative Journey.”

The symposium was inaugurated by R.W. Bro. Vurrakula Kesava Rao, O.S.M., President – Panel of Judges, R.W.C. 2026, who also delivered the keynote address.

A special moment during the event was the launch of the commemorative lapel pin by V.W. Bro. Alwar Sethupathy, Worshipful Assistant Regional Grand Master of the Regional Grand Lodge of Southern India, marking yet another milestone in the continuing journey of the symposium. The concept of this pin was explained by V.W.Bro. Sreedharan Srikanth Srikanth Sreedharan and this was awarded to the Initiates of Lodge Satsang who is an member of all the four bodies of Lodge Satsang ie the Craft Lodge, Mark, RAM and Chapter.

The presentation of Masonic papers formed a significant part of the programme, engaging presentations delivered by W. Bro. Vijay Ramachandran of Lodge Prerana No. 313, W. Bro. Pushpavanan Magesh of Lodge Mount Charity No. 232 and Bro. Vijayarajan Gnanaguhan of Lodge Pandyan No. 49. Their papers explored varied dimensions of Masonic philosophy and practice, contributing meaningfully to the educational spirit of the symposium.

The winner of the essay writing contest was W.Bro. James Arockiasamy from Lodge Salem No.79 and the Runner-up was Bro. Karthik Appadurai from Lodge Wisdom No.477.

Why Donate Blood?
Every blood donation can save up to three lives! Your selfless act can make a real difference in someone’s time of need.

Here are some basic guidelines:
* Be in good health and feeling well on the day of donation.
* Have a healthy meal and plenty of fluids before donating.
* Anyone more than 18 years old and weigh more than 45 kgs can donate blood
* Please abstain from alcohol for 24 hours and smoking for 6 hours before donating blood.

Lodge Satsang No. 396 held its 3rd (153rd) Regular Meeting on 07.07.2026.

The evening witnessed two significant ceremonies. Bro. P.V. Govind was initiated into the mysteries and privileges of Freemasonry, and Bro. Jagadish Balakrishnan was passed to the Second Degree.

The Lodge congratulates the Worshipful Master, his team of officers, and the Brethren for conducting both ceremonies with ease and in a smooth and dignified manner. Warm congratulations are also extended to the two Brethren on these important milestones in their Masonic journey.

Lodge Satsang No. 396 participated in the 8th edition of the Lodge Srinivasa Gopala Masonic Quiz Competition with a team comprising W Bro. Jeyaprakash Arasu Shankher, Bro. Ajay Chandar, and Bro. Midhun.

The team delivered an excellent performance and were adjudged Champions of the Quiz. Notably, this marks the fourth time that Lodge Satsang has won the competition, having also maintained the distinction of participating in the quiz every year.

The Lodge congratulates the winning team for this commendable achievement and takes pride in yet another moment of recognition for Lodge Satsang.
