We have an exciting speaker lined up for our June session!

Hemant Srivatsa is Managing Partner of Murray & Co. Auctioneers, a proper Chennai institution with a legacy spanning generations.

Originally a cricketer, Hemant joined the family business in 1992, and has helped transform the auction house through technology and innovation while also staying rooted in the science and art of auctioneering. His work sits at the intersection of curation, storytelling, and connection, making him a fitting voice for this month’s theme, Curate.

What it means to the Chapter

“To us, curate is about perspective. In a world overflowing with information, content, ideas, and tools, the ability to curate—to choose, shape, and sequence—has become more powerful than simply knowing or creating. It’s no longer just about the outcome, but about crafting a thoughtful and meaningful experience that reflects a deeper creative vision.”

Jagath is an artist and creative educator based in Chennai. He holds an MFA in Painting from the Government College of Fine Arts. His work resists explanation, allowing paintings to develop gradually, responding intuitively to each mark and layer without fully controlling their movements. His practice is guided less by predetermined ideas and more by an openness to process. Colour, surface, and gesture become ways of thinking through the work as it unfolds.

theme for March is LOCAL. It was chosen by our Santos chapter in Brazil and illustrated by Simone Matias.
Local (pronounced lo·cal) in Portuguese means “being a resident or native to a particular area.”
Our Santos chapter had this to say about the significance of this month’s theme:
“We are proud to be from Santos. The feeling of loving the city but sometimes moving away. The benefits of belonging somewhere.”

So, how does where you’re from define who you are? How do different spaces foster that sense of connection? How can we develop and strengthen bonds with the people around us?

Over the past decade, he has led the creation of 130+ urban forests across 10 states, planting 1.6 million+ trees over 1,110+ acres and turning unused land into carbon sinks, biodiversity hubs, and green learning spaces.

He has mobilized 38,000+ corporate volunteers annually, partnering with leading organizations to embed sustainability into campuses and communities. His initiatives have engaged 150+ schools and colleges in hands-on climate education and led one of India’s largest citizen-driven coastal cleanups in Chennai.
