Strengthening access to dialysis care through collaboration and awareness. 💙

We were honoured to welcome Mr. Katta Ravi Teja, IAS, Commissioner, Coimbatore Corporation, to our TANKER Foundation Dialysis Unit.

During his visit, he reviewed the unit’s operations, dialysis facilities, patient utilisation, and the support being provided to the community. Discussions also focused on improving awareness and ensuring that more patients who need dialysis can access this facility.

A step forward in expanding access to life-saving kidney care.

TANKER Foundation has installed a new haemodialysis machine at The Madras Medical Mission (MMM), Chennai, in memory of the late Dr. Rajan Hariharan, a distinguished professor of surgery and respected member of the medical fraternity.

Generously sponsored by Dr. Rajan Hariharan’s family and inaugurated by Dr. Sarojini Hariharan, the machine will help provide dialysis support to more underprivileged patients living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

We thank the Hariharan family for their generosity and commitment to improving healthcare access for those in need.

The TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation held a screening camp Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Udhavum Ullangal Skill Development Centre, Chromepet, from which 52 women trainees and teachers benefitted. Dr. Kabilan guided the TAPP team of Mrs. Deepa, Mr. Hemeshwaran and Mrs. Ramapriya in conducting the camp.

Number of participants: 52 trainees and teachers
Tests done: BMI, blood pressure, blood sugar, urine

Interns: 2 students from Madurai School of Social Work.

Remarks: A total of 52 participants benefited from the kidney health screening camp at the Udhavum Ullangal Skill Development Centre, Chromepet.
The screening camp identified 10 individuals with elevated blood sugar levels and four participants with high blood pressure.
Notably, all 10 high blood sugar cases and four high blood pressure cases were newly-diagnosed, indicating the presence of previously undetected, lifestyle-related health conditions among the participants.
Additionally, one participant showed abnormalities in the urine test, suggesting possible kidney-related concerns that require further medical evaluation. Based on the findings, 14 high-risk individuals were referred to the nearest primary health centre (PHC) for further assessment and follow-up treatment.
Dr. Kabilan also provided dietary guidance and health advice to all participants, emphasising the importance of healthy food habits, regular physical activity, adequate hydration and routine health check-ups to maintain overall well-being and prevent kidney-related diseases.
The programme helped create awareness about early detection and preventive healthcare among the women trainees and staff members of the skill development centre.

An awareness programme was conducted by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation at the Udhavum Ullangal Skill Development Centre in Chromepet, Chennai, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, during which TAPP Program Coordinator, Mrs. Ramapriya, gave a detailed talk on maintaining kidney health.

Remarks: In all, 54 women trainees and teachers participated in the awareness programme on kidney health conducted at the Udhavum Ullangal Skill Development Centre in Chromepet.
The introductory talk was given by intern, Ms. Jeyalakshmi, from Madurai Institute of Social Sciences.
Program Coordinator, Mrs. Ramapriya, delivered an informative talk focusing on the major causes of kidney diseases and their impact on women’s health. She explained how unhealthy food habits, lack of physical activity, stress, diabetes, high blood pressure and inadequate water intake can increase the risk of kidney-related problems among women.
The session also emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle to prevent kidney diseases.
The participants were encouraged to follow balanced nutrition, do regular exercise, have proper hydration, do routine health check-ups and undertake stress management practices to improve overall health and kidney wellness.

An Immunology Laboratory was inaugurated at The Madras Medical Mission through funding support from Aptus Value Housing Finance India Limited and facilitated by TANKER Foundation. The objective of the initiative is to strengthen diagnostic services and extend vital healthcare support to economically-disadvantaged patients.
On Friday, May 15, 2026, Mr. M. Anandan, Founder & Executive Chairman of Aptus Value Housing Finance India Limited, and his wife, Mrs. Padma Anandan, inaugurated the new Immunology Laboratory.
TANKER Foundation Founder Trustee and Chairman, Dr. Georgi Abraham, stated that the laboratory was a “dream come true” and emphasised the importance of establishing such a specialised facility to support patient care and diagnosis. He also said the initiative marks another important milestone in improving access to quality healthcare services for patients requiring advanced diagnostic support.
The laboratory will significantly benefit patients by enabling timely and accurate immunological investigations. He added that the opportunity to set up this laboratory was now a reality thanks to the support and commitment of Aptus, MMM and TANKER.
Mr. Anandan mentioned that Aptus Value Housing Finance India Limited supported the entire laboratory infrastructure and equipment as part of its commitment towards healthcare and social responsibility. He highlighted that Aptus was helping in many healthcare initiatives, such as setting up labs and postoperative wards, and in the field of education, to name a few.
TANKER Foundation Managing Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, highlighted the 33 years of journey and service of TANKER Foundation.
