es. Shipping is at crossroads today amidst dire market conditions rife with over-capacity, low margins and slow growth. Maritime India debates the threats that exist in world shipping and explores avenues for sustainable growth in an age where innovation or sustaining technologies perhaps need to step away in favour of disruptive technologies. Needless to suggest, it is not business as usual, as we welcome you all to soul wrenching sessions encompassing critical areas such as digital sector, robotics, satellite communication, changing environmental regulations or sharing information. We attempts to find solutions to build, market, finance and manage the ships and ports of tomorrow, when Govt. of India is intent on heavy investments towards development of Indian maritime sector & Ports/Terminals under the umbrella of maritime growth. Shipping Ministry has identified two major maritime clusters similar to Japan and Korea, with scope for developing various components like maritime and ancillary services for these clusters as part of its efforts to cut logistics costs, enable competitive trade and boost India's economic growth. "WSF - 2017" with its theme "MARITIME INDIA – PROPELLING GROWTH AMIDST DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES" will serve as a platform for discussion on wide ranging topics connected with the shipping industry. On behalf of the Organizing Committee and The Institute of Marine Engineers (India), Chennai Branch, we extend a warm invitation to you and your organization to actively participate in the "WORLD SHIPPING FORUM - 2017" to be held in Chennai from November 23 – 25, 2017.
