Rotary Club Madras North ROTARY CLUB OF MADRAS NORTH Rotary Club of Madras North was chartered on 22nd December 1969. Due to the age advantage, we have a very good camaraderie.

It is one of the Oldest clubs in Chennai , India , in terms of average age and in consonance thereof boasts of a young and enthusiastic conglomeration of Rotarian's. Our Club has grown many folds and today has a membership of 51 individuals from different walks of life; Publishers , Financial Advisors, Analysts, Advocates, Insurers, Entrepreneurs, etc. Also our dynamism motivates us to embark on larger projects year after year. The celebrations began with a beautiful and heartwarming welcome as President Mary entered the venue through a flower shower πŸŒΈπŸ’πŸŒΊπŸͺ·πŸŒΉπŸͺ»πŸŒ·πŸŒ» showered by our dear Annettes, creating a magical and memorable moment πŸ’«

The special moments continued with PP Rtn. Anita David crowning President Mary with a beautiful tiara πŸ‘‘πŸ’— symbolising the love, admiration, and pride of the entire Rotary family.

The Incoming First Lady 2026-27, Ann Bhuvaneswari Nagarajan, added to the celebrations by adorning President Mary with a lovely rose garland 🌹🌹🌹🌹

The warmth and affection of the RCMN family was beautifully expressed when PP Rtn. Joseph Raja and Ann Sunitha Joseph honoured President Mary with magnificent rose garlands 🌹🌹🌹🌹, reflecting the immense respect and appreciation for her outstanding leadership.

President Elect 2026-27 Rtn. Nagarajan welcomed the gathering with his warm welcome address πŸ€©πŸ’«

The evening continued with heartfelt felicitation speeches by our esteemed Past Presidents, Board Members, Members, Anns, and Annettes, who shared their appreciation, memories, and words of encouragement for President Mary’s successful year πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ©΅

A special mention to Ann Bhakthagowri Sounderrajan, whose beautiful Tamil poem, her heartfelt words, beautifully expressed in the richness of the Tamil language, added a very special and emotional moment to the evening πŸ’žπŸŒ· It was truly heartwarming and a lovely tribute filled with affection and admiration for our dear President πŸŒΈπŸ™πŸ»

The event, themed "A Throne of Legacy", was conducted with great enthusiasm and professionalism. The DRR Visit was highly successful, and the club showcased its achievements and impact during the Rotary year. Annual awards were presented to recognize outstanding performances and contributions of members.

A notable highlight of the evening was the announcement that the current President, Rtr. Krishnaranga, has been elected as the GRR, bringing pride to the club and its sponsoring Rotary Club.

The RYLA experience went beyond classrooms, with exciting activities including trekking, yoga, and swimming, creating opportunities for teamwork, resilience, and bonding. The adventurous trek itself became a wonderful motivation for participants to push their limits and complete the challenge with enthusiasm.

The programme also featured insightful sessions by distinguished speakers from Salem RI District, including PDG Ashoka and PDG Sivagnanaselvam, who shared valuable perspectives on the role of youth in politics, the significance of RYLA, and financial awareness.

Rtn. Sujatha Sathish, Secretary, Rotary Club of Madras North 2025-26 and District TRF Team Member 2026-27, was honoured to have had the opportunity to introduce the esteemed Chief Guest, Past District Governor 3232 (current RID 3234) Rtn. Sridhar Jagannathan. He is nominated as the Rotary Regional Foundation Coordinator (RRFC 2026-29) for Zone 5.

The Rotary Foundation Grant Seminar was indeed a very informative and engaging session that helped Rotarians understand how to plan, apply for, and successfully implement Rotary Foundation-supported projects. It focused on the various Grants, eligibility criteria, needs assessments, project planning, budgeting, impact, sustainability, and reporting requirements.

The Seminar encouraged Clubs to focus on creating impactful service projects that addresses real community needs while promoting Rotary’s vision of β€œService Above Self.”

It also helped members to learn best practices, how and why to collaborate with other Clubs, and maximize the resources of The Rotary Foundation to bring meaningful change through service.

Mega Plantation Drive – β€œBreath of Nature”
🌴🌳🌿☘️

On the occasion of World Environment Day, 5th June 2026, a Mega Plantation Drive titled β€œBreath of Nature” 🌿☘️ was organized by the Rotary Club of Chennai Meraki in association with 🀝 Rotary District 3233, District Rotaract, Annettes, Dream Kalam, CommuniTree and several supporting organizations at The University of Madras, Taramani.

The project aimed at contributing towards the ambitious goal of planting One Lakh Trees 🌳and creating a sustainable green environment through the establishment of a Rotary International Dense Forest🌴🌎🌳

The programme commenced with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the Welcome Address.

The event was exceptionally compered by
Rtn. S. M. Balaji, District Community Service Chairman, who ensured the smooth flow of the programme.

Addressing the gathering, District Governor Rtn. D. Damodaran Devendran highlighted the challenges posed by global warming and emphasized the importance of collective environmental action.

Dr. V. Irai Anbu IAS (Retd.) delivered an inspiring speech on the alarming reduction of forest cover and the urgent need for afforestation efforts.

Padma Bhushan Dr. Nalli Kuppusamy Ayya, spoke passionately about the significance of tree planting and preserving nature for future generations.

Dr. Rita John, Registrar, University of Madras, shared the University's initiatives towards environmental conservation and appreciated the collaborative effort undertaken by Rotary and its partners.

Though the Hon'ble Minister for Higher Education, Thiru P. Viswanathan, was unable to attend due to unavoidable reasons, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from Rotary leaders, Rotaractors, Annettes, students, and volunteers.

A special word of appreciation goes to the NCC students of Asan College, whose dedicated volunteer service greatly supported the plantation activity πŸ‘
