On Earth Day 2026, the message is clear,
“Our Power. Our Planet.”

At Chennai Volunteers, this power shows up in action:
cleaning beaches, restoring green spaces, driving awareness on sustainability.

Not someday. Today.
Not someone else. All of us.

Because protecting the planet isn’t one big act, it’s small, consistent choices made by people who care enough to act.
And do exactly that.

On World Autism Awareness Day, we celebrate not just awareness—but action, with our young friends. Working with them every week, on various skills, our volunteers decided that April 2nd would be a day to celebrate with them.
Across our partner institutions, our volunteers show up week after week—
teaching, engaging, supporting, and learning alongside children and young people on the autism spectrum.

Through simple yet powerful acts—
• activity-based learning
• communication support
• structured play
• patient, consistent engagement

—they help build confidence, comfort, and connection.

But what makes this journey meaningful is not just what volunteers give, it’s what they receive.

A deeper understanding.
A quieter patience.
A profound respect for every unique mind.

Because inclusion is not created in a day.
It is built—week in, week out—through commitment, empathy, and presence.

At Chennai Volunteers, we don’t just support being different. We practise it.

Because every mind is different. And every mind matters.

Every child deserves not just a classroom, but a childhood.

At , we help this by creating a safe, open playground at deserving schools we work with; enriching the school into a space where learning doesn’t end with textbooks, and growth goes beyond exams.

Play is not a break from education. It is education that builds confidence, teaches teamwork and nurtures creativity.
For many children, especially in underserved communities, access to safe and joyful play spaces is limited. This playground is our step towards changing that — creating an environment where study and play go hand in hand, shaping happier, healthier, and more confident young individuals.
We’re proud to have created one more such space at CMS Choolai. A big thank you to our corporate partners who sponsored this initiative, and helped hundreds of children thrive.

At , we’ve seen impact in moments of crisis and everyday.
And the truth is that real strength of a community is built in the everyday.

It’s in the volunteer who shows up every week to teach a child.
It’s in the one who spends a quiet afternoon reading to someone who cannot see.
It’s in those who organise, sort, mentor, clean, plant, and care — without waiting to be asked.

Because volunteers are not just responders in times of need.
They are first responders to possibility — stepping in where gaps exist, even in the most ordinary moments.

And that is what keeps communities moving forward — consistently, quietly, and meaningfully.

Every act may seem small.
But together, they create lasting change.

At Chennai Volunteers, BE MY EYES, a programme to support the visually challenged isn’t charity. It’s respect, dignity, and partnership.

Our volunteers step in to support at a library for the visually challenged :
- Reading books
- Organising shelves
- Updating resumes
- Applying for job opportunities online

But what they experience is far more powerful, it’s an eye-opener.

Meeting individuals who navigate life with courage, independence, and quiet determination.
We don’t empower them. They inspire us. Because when compassion meets dignity, inclusion becomes real.

When purpose meets collaboration, impact scales. This was the spirit of Giving Matters Conclave 2026, where corporates, volunteers and NGOs came together to explore how responsible businesses and engaged citizens can strengthen communities.
We were honoured to welcome Ms. Prabha Narasimhan, Managing Director & CEO, Colgate-Palmolive (India) as Chief Guest, who shared powerful insights on the evolving landscape of corporate citizenship and the need for CSR that delivers measurable, meaningful impact.
We were equally privileged to have Mr. , Managing Director, KLDiscovery India, join us as Guest of Honour, and delighted by the gracious presence of whose longstanding commitment to social causes inspires many.
A highlight of the evening was recognising corporate organisations that are setting benchmarks in CSR and employee volunteering, demonstrating that businesses, when guided by purpose, can become powerful forces for social good.
The Conclave also featured a vibrant NGO Fair, where our partner organisations showcased their impactful work, creating an opportunity for corporates, NGOs and citizens to discover causes, build partnerships and collaborate for greater impact.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the spirit of responsible leadership and conscious giving, and to for amplifying the message.

When expertise travels across continents to serve with humility, impact multiplies.

For the second time, senior faculty in special needs & inclusive education from Portobello Institute, Europe, are back in Chennai — not for a conference, but to volunteer their time, skills and hearts with Chennai Volunteers.

Over the course of a week-long certified programme, they are upskilling 30+ special educators and therapists across 15+ NGO partners in our city, all of the most deserving.

Mornings are immersive, classroom-style sessions — evidence-based, practical and deeply interactive.
Afternoons are spent on the ground, visiting partner institutions and homes for children and young adults with special needs, working alongside faculty, sharing practical tools, and gifting thoughtfully curated Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) that can be immediately integrated into classrooms.

This is not just training. It is collaboration and global expertise meeting grassroots commitment.

Every educator strengthened through this programme carries that learning back to their classrooms — creating a ripple effect that will reach 4,500+ children and young people across Chennai.

It’s a week of giving back — from the heart and from the head. And when both come together, inclusion stops being a concept and becomes a lived reality. Because we at CV and Portobello, celebrate neurodiversity everyday.

Led by six senior faculty in the field, the morning classroom style sessions will be followed by afternoon visits to partner institutions for hands on practical training.

Focused on building skills, strengthening inclusion and creating impact where it matters most. Because every mind is different.m and every mind matters.
