Caring for Health, Building a Healthier Tomorrow

Our annual Medical Camp for the Interact Club at Ganapathy Iyer Girls Higher Secondary School (GIGHS), Gopalapuram, in association with Billroth Hospital, was a powerful step toward prevention-first healthcare.

The numbers that matter:

103 students - Paediatric Consultation (71 healthy, 32 advised further evaluation)

103 students - Dental Screening (20 healthy teeth, 46 scaling, 44 filling, 43 extraction advised)

18 teachers - ECG, all normal

18 teachers - Dental Screening, all had healthy oral cavities

19 staff - Echocardiogram, all normal

19 staff - Random Blood Sugar (18 normal, 1 slightly elevated)

19 staff - BP and Vital Signs, all normal

18 staff - General Physician Consultation, all healthy

Over 200 screenings and consultations delivered in a single day.

From paediatric care to cardiac checks, this camp focused on preventive healthcare, early detection, and healthy lifestyle awareness, because prevention is always better than cure.

Sometimes, the best lessons happen outside the classroom!

The idea was mooted by President Rtn. Shubharanjani Ananth and promptly and efficiently executed by Headmistress along with support from .mascreen

For the young girls of Ganapathy Iyer Girls’ High School, a day at the B.M. Birla Planetarium and Guindy Children’s Park became much more than a school excursion. It was a day of wonder, discovery, laughter and new experiences.

They looked up at the stars and explored the mysteries of space , experimented with science and mathematics, discovered technology and robotics, and then stepped into the green world of Guindy to observe wildlife and understand the delicate balance of nature.

For Madras Temple City, supporting an educational experience like this is about creating opportunities for children to see, question, explore and dream beyond the pages of their textbooks.

The excitement in their eyes, the questions they asked, the joy of discovering something new — these are the moments that make service truly meaningful.
Because when we give a child an opportunity to experience the world, we may be opening the door to a whole new world of possibilities.

“My body belongs to me."

Empowering young minds with the knowledge to stay safe!

The Rotary Club of Madras Temple City successfully organized a Good Touch, Bad Touch Awareness Programme at Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Ayanambakkam, reaching 170 students from Classes 4 and 5.

Led by Adv. Shanas Fathima, the session provided age-appropriate guidance on personal safety, body autonomy, and the importance of confiding in trusted adults.

We taught these young champions that it’s okay to say "NO" when something feels wrong and that they should always reach out to a trusted adult. No fear, no hesitation !

A shout out to Rtn. Smitha David (Director Community Health) and Rtn. Joshua Mascreen (Director Youth Services) for steering this important initiative.

Together, we are building resilient communities.

What began as Ann. Revathi Ganesan's heartfelt gesture after the Coimbatore blasts is now a nationwide movement of gratitude, powered by Rotary Club of Madras Temple City, supported by generous donors, ensuring that every jawan receives a piece of home, no matter how far they are from their families.

This year, our handmade rakhis reached Battalions in borders , Armed forces posts across India and our members tied Rakhis to Jawans, in person, at Chennai

A Little Joy, A Lot of Courage

The Rotary Club of Madras Temple City recently spent a beautiful afternoon with the brave young warriors and their families at St. Jude India ChildCare Centres.

For children battling cancer, life can become a difficult routine of treatments, uncertainty and long periods away from home. St. Jude provides much more than a safe place to stay — it creates a nurturing , clean and sterile environment where children and their families can find comfort, care and a sense of normalcy.

We wanted to add a little joy to that journey. So, we turned up the heat with a MasterChef-style cooking competition!

Children and parents became teams, creating dishes inspired by the regional flavours of their home states. For a few precious hours, it wasn't about hospitals or treatments. It was about chopping, stirring, tasting, laughing and competing!

The aromas of home filled the room, bringing with them memories, smiles and a wonderful sense of togetherness.

At Rotary, we believe that sometimes, we may not be able to change the circumstances, but we can change a moment. And sometimes, a little love, laughter and togetherness can make a difficult day feel lighter.

Here’s to the courage of these incredible children, the strength of their families, and the beautiful work of everyone who stands beside them.
Because even in the toughest of times, there is always room for a little joy.

Who needs a golden throne when you can have a banana leaf and 21 items of Sadya goodness? The Rotary Club of Madras Temple City went all out to celebrate Onam in true Interfaith style - food coma guaranteed!
And, of course, Mahabali dropped by to give his royal approval

But the real magic happened when families came together, shared traditions, and celebrated our crazy beautiful diversity.

Hats off to our Interfaith Chair, , for bringing the party to life! 👏👏👏 And, yes, Mahabali gave it two thumbs up 👍. And posed with too:)
