SMILE’ing Sports Moments 😊
A year back, in our *Sadhana* Project (where we support college education for underprivileged students), *Namrutha* — just like her name — came into our lives with a different story.
She came along with her neighbour, as her grandfather was not well.
Her father passed away during her childhood, and her mother left. Since then, she has been growing up under the care of her aged grandfather — whom she supports by cooking and taking care of daily needs. Our Sabarmathi admin, who is from the same village, helped us verify her background.
Namrutha was not just another student in need — she was a talented sports girl with numerous certificates and a strong passion for Football. She wanted to join a residential college near Vaniyambadi that would support her sports aspirations, based on her PT master’s guidance.
Initially, we had a dilemma. In education, the success rate is more predictable. But in sports, success is uncertain and requires immense struggle. Considering her situation, we suggested she focus only on academics.
But she stood firm. She believed in her dream. She convinced us. And we chose to trust her.
One year later…
Last week, we received a call from her regarding her second-year fees. But this time, her story was not the same.
She has won 10+ awards, including the CM Award. What once looked like a risk has now become a story of courage, determination, and belief. With stronger hope, she is now stepping into her second year. And SMILE has also evolved — from this year onwards, we have started supporting sports students like her.
We are now proud to further increase her sponsorship — to support her journey and help her achieve bigger dreams.

*விளையாட்டு போட்டிகளில் SMILE-ன் தருணங்கள் 😊*
ஒரு வருடத்திற்கு முன்பு, நம்முடைய *சாதனா* திட்டம் (பொருளாதார ரீதியாக பின்தங்கிய மாணவர்களின் கல்லூரி கல்வியை ஆதரிக்கும் முயற்சி) மூலம் நம்ருதா நம்மை சந்தித்தாள்.
அவள் தனது பக்கத்து வீட்டு அண்ணனுடன் வந்தாள் — அவளது தாத்தா உடல்நலக்குறைவால் வர முடியவில்லை.
சிறு வயதிலேயே தந்தையை இழந்தவள்… தாயும் அவளை விட்டுச் சென்றுவிட்டார்.
இப்போது அவள் வயதான தாத்தாவுடன் வாழ்ந்து, அவருக்காக சமைத்து, அவரை கவனித்து கொண்டு வாழ்க்கையை முன்னெடுத்து வருகிறாள். நம்முடைய சபர்மதி நிர்வாகத்தில் உள்ள ஒருவரும் அதே ஊரை சேர்ந்தவர் என்பதால், அவளது சூழ்நிலையினை உறுதி செய்தோம்.
*நம்ருதா* ஒரு சாதாரண மாணவி அல்ல —
அவள் ஒரு திறமையான விளையாட்டு வீராங்கனை. பல போட்டிகளில் கலந்து கொண்டு பல சான்றிதழ்கள் பெற்றிருந்தாள்.
விளையாட்டில் முன்னேற வேண்டும் என்ற கனவுடன், வாணியம்பாடி அருகிலுள்ள ஒரு ரெசிடென்ஷியல் கல்லூரியில் சேர வேண்டும் என்றாள். அதற்கான ஆலோசனையை அவளது PT மாஸ்டர் கொடுத்திருந்தார்.
முதல் நிலையில் நமக்கு ஒரு குழப்பம் இருந்தது… கல்வியில் வெற்றி சாத்தியம் அதிகம். ஆனால் விளையாட்டில் வெற்றி பெறுவது கடினம்.
அவளது சூழ்நிலையை பார்த்து, “கல்வியை மட்டும் தொடரலாமே?” என்று நாம் கேட்டோம்.
ஆனால் அவள் உறுதியுடன் நின்றாள். அவள் தனது கனவை நம்பினாள். அவள் எங்களை நம்ப வைத்தாள். நாமும் அவளை நம்பினோம்.
ஒரு வருடத்திற்கு பிறகு…
கடந்த வாரம், 2ஆம் ஆண்டு கட்டணத்திற்காக அவரிடமிருந்து ஒரு அழைப்பு வந்தது. ஆனால் இந்த முறை அவளது கதை முற்றிலும் மாறிவிட்டது…
அவள் 10க்கும் மேற்பட்ட விருதுகளை வென்றிருக்கிறாள் — அதிலும் முதல்வர் விருது (CM Award) உட்பட!
ஒரு சந்தேகமாக இருந்த முடிவு, இன்று ஒரு பெருமையான சாதனையாக மாறியுள்ளது. இப்போது அவள் இரண்டாம் ஆண்டிற்கு முன்னேறுகிறாள் — மேலும் நம்பிக்கையுடன்!
SMILE அமைப்பும் இப்போது தனது எண்ணத்தை மாற்றியுள்ளது. இந்த ஆண்டிலிருந்து விளையாட்டு மாணவர்களையும் ஆதரிக்க தொடங்கியுள்ளது.
அவளது கனவுகளை மேலும் உயர்த்த, நாங்கள் அவளுக்கான உதவித்தொகையை அதிகரிக்க முடிவு செய்துள்ளோம்.
ஓடு மகளே… ஓடு…
உன் துயரங்களை எல்லாம் தாண்டி, உன் கனவுகளைக் கைப்பற்றும் வரை ஓடு…🌱✨
