Mr Vish Viswanathan, President, Delphi-TVS & President, Madras Chamber MCCI & Mr Murali Vaidyanathan, President, Wheels India Limited & Vice President, Madras Chamber MCCI met Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry at his office in Delhi and had wonderful interactions with him . The discussion centred around the key issues and opportunities for Tamil Nadu’s economic and industrial growth, including strengthening the State’s investment ecosystem, supporting MSMEs, enhancing exports, ensuring ease of doing business, infrastructure development and creating new opportunities for industry under the recent trade agreements.

The discussion also touched upon the immense potential for Tamil Nadu to contribute further to India’s growth story, particularly across manufacturing, technology, innovation and emerging sectors.

A copy of our Coffee table book ‘Championing Enterprise’ which chronicles the Chamber’s long history was also handed over to the Hon’ble Minister on this occasion, which won his appreciation.

The Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) was pleased to participate in the stakeholder consultation meeting convened by the Revenue Augmentation Committee, Government of Tamil Nadu on August 27, 2026.

MCCI was represented by Mr. A. Viswanathan. President, Delphi-TVS & President, Madras Chamber MCCI and Ms. K. Saraswathi K, Secretary General, MCCI, alongside key policy and domain leaders.

Building on MCCI’s long-standing legacy of shaping state policy initiatives—dating back to our landmark economic development studies—we presented actionable recommendations aimed at enhancing the State’s tax and non-tax revenue framework.

Special thanks to Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia for his ongoing guidance and leadership in shaping Tamil Nadu's fiscal vision. Reconnecting on state economic development—over two decades after MCCI first presented its TN economic study to him—remains a proud milestone for the Chamber.

Our core focus remains clear: supporting sustainable revenue augmentation for the State while fostering a vibrant, competitive environment for business and long-term economic development in Tamil Nadu.

We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Raja Gopal Sunkara, I.A.S., Convener of the Committee, and the Finance Department for this constructive engagement.

A wonderful evening of history, heritage and meaningful connections at the Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s (MCCI) “America 250 – Madras 387: A Long Business Connect” programme, held as part of the Madras Day celebrations.

We were privileged to hear Mr. Sriram V, Historian, who delivered a fascinating and insightful presentation on the long-standing historical and business connections between Madras and America.

His storytelling brought history alive and offered a wonderful perspective on how these relationships have evolved over the years.

The Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) was glad to engage with the Israel Water Tech Delegation to Chennai, organised by the Israel Economic & Trade Mission to South India.

The interaction brought together leaders from industry, government and the business community to explore opportunities for technology partnerships, innovation and sustainable solutions in the water sector.

The discussions highlighted the enormous potential for collaboration between Israeli water-tech companies and Tamil Nadu’s strong industrial ecosystem.

MCCI also shared its experience in industry engagement, policy advocacy, sustainability initiatives, international business collaboration and connecting global companies with the Tamil Nadu business ecosystem.

The delegation further explored opportunities to take Israeli technologies beyond Chennai and create deeper engagement across Tamil Nadu, including with manufacturing clusters, industrial stakeholders and MSMEs.

We thank Mr. Yair Osheroff, Head of Trade and Economic Mission, Bangalore; Mr. Vineeth, Manager – Trade and Invest; and Ms.Kavitha S., Director – Trade and Invest, for the valuable interaction and for their continued efforts to strengthen India–Israel economic cooperation.

The 190th Annual General Meeting of the Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) brought together industry leaders to deliberate on the themes that will shape the future of Indian business and manufacturing.

Delivering the keynote address, Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, shared compelling insights on building enduring institutions through purpose, scale, and long-term conviction.

Among the key messages from his address:

- Enduring businesses are built by looking beyond quarterly performance and making bold, long-term investments.
- Scale is not merely about size—it transforms industry economics by attracting technology, capital, and strategic partnerships.
- India has the potential, credentials, and track record to become a global manufacturing powerhouse, with industry playing a pivotal role in driving this transformation.
- Legacy institutions remain relevant by continuously reinventing themselves while staying anchored to their core purpose.

The AGM also marked an important leadership transition for the Chamber. MCCI expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Ramkumar Shankar for his exemplary leadership, dedicated service, and valuable contributions as President during his tenure.

The Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) was pleased to participate in the consultation meeting convened by the Government of Tamil Nadu as part of the Deregulation and Compliance Reduction Exercise.

Representing MCCI, Mr. Vish Viswanathan, President, Delphi-TVS & President, Madras Chamber MCCI, and Ms. Saraswathi K, Secretary General, MCCI, attended the meeting and engaged in a constructive discussion with Ms. Pallavi Verma, IAS, Executive Director, Guidance Tamil Nadu, and the Deregulation Task Force headed by Mr Sunil Paliwal, Government of India.

The consultation reviewed the progress of Phase II of the Deregulation and Compliance Reduction Exercise and outlined the roadmap for Phase III, with a focus on simplifying regulatory processes, reducing compliance burden, and strengthening the Ease of Doing Business ecosystem in Tamil Nadu.

During the interaction, MCCI shared industry perspectives and recommendations on regulatory reforms, reaffirming its commitment to working closely with the Government of Tamil Nadu in fostering a competitive, transparent, and investor-friendly business environment.
