Yein Udaan The name “Yein Udaan” is an amalgamation of two languages – Tamil (‘Yein’ meaning ‘My’) and Hindi (‘Udaan’ meaning ‘Takeoff’).

Through a holistic approach fueled by passionate experts in Chennai, we provide extra-curricular opportunities to underprivileged children, enabling them to achieve academic and non-academic goals. It was conceived as an after-school community center to provide continuous training in academic, cultural, and sports activities to children in Chetpet’s Dhobi Khana community, located in central Chennai. At Yein Udaan, we aim to work on the holistic development of underprivileged children, by providing them with academic and extra-curricular training and believe that building a skill-set, independent of academic features will help children grow into confident and self-aware individuals. By forming partnerships with established individuals and groups in the city, our goal is to bridge the opportunity gap found between privileged and underprivileged children. We hope to provide such opportunities to children in several communities across Chennai, and beyond.

Rise and shine ☀️

Welcome to our Early Years classroom at Lady Andal 🏫

Here, learning begins with feeling safe, cared for and creating a space of belonging💛

👩‍🏫 Nurturing teachers & staff who know that every child needs encouragement, patience and care to flourish.

🌈 Sorting colours and fine motor activities as little hands explore, discover and make sense of the world around them

🔤 Learning the alphabet one letter, one sound and one joyful discovery at a time.

🎶 Rhymes & songs that turn learning into moments of laughter, rhythm and connection.

🤸 Plenty of movement and play because little bodies
need to move, explore and have fun while they learn.

At Yein Udaan, our Early Years intervention is about more than preparing children for school. It is about giving them a safe space to be themselves, build confidence and discover the joy of learning!!✏️

Because when children feel they belong, they are ready to rise, shine and grow. 🌱

On the occasion of Madras Day, we are looking back at some wonderful memories from the Chetpet Community Walk, where Yein Udaan and Madras Inherited invited Chennaiites to experience Chetpet through the voices and stories of its own community.

The walk took us through the streets of one of Chennai’s oldest dhobi-khanas, uncovering the history, memories, hopes and aspirations that make Chetpet the place it is!

Led by women from the Chetpet community, the walk offered a chance to see the neighbourhood through the lens of resilience, dreams and journeys of the people who call it home🏠

Thank you to everyone who walked with us, listened, asked thoughtful questions, and became a part of these memories 💜

🇮🇳 Freedom, in their colours. Freedom, in their words. Freedom, in their dreams. 🇮🇳

This Independence Day, our children celebrated the spirit of India through creativity, curiosity, and togetherness. ✨

🎨 With colourful drawings inspired by the tricolour, each child brought their own imagination to life - turning paper into little expressions of what India means to them.

🗺️ Through an engaging group activity, they explored India through maps, discovering its rivers, states, landmarks, and rich diversity while learning how every part contributes to the nation we call home.

🎤 The celebration became even more meaningful as the children shared inspiring thoughts on independence, freedom, and what it means to be proud Indians.

From colours on paper to ideas in their minds, our children celebrated India in the most beautiful way - with imagination, learning, and pride 🧡🤍💚

Here’s to raising young minds of Chetpet who dream freely, learn fearlessly, and grow with pride in their country 🇮🇳✨

15/08/2026

This Independence Day, we want to strengthen our commitment to a childhood where every child feels safe, accepted and belongs 🇮🇳

At Yein Udaan, we remain committed to creating spaces where every child can learn, grow, dream and thrive with confidence.

Because the children we nurture today are the citizens who will shape tomorrow - building a stronger, kinder and more inclusive India 🌱

Wishing you a very Happy 80th Independence Day! 🇮🇳

The curtain rises as we celebrate our children, their stories, and their dreams, as they take us on a journey to imagine, and think sensitively about the future of Chennai at our 2026 Annual Production!🎭

✨✌🏻♥️

Ready to journey into the future?
Better pack a slice of cake for the ride!🍰

The evening began with words of welcome by our associates (proud alumni of Yein Udaan’s learning programmes), setting the stage for the magic to unfold!✨

A few curious children wondered what Chennai might look like in 2096, imagining a future shaped by technology and development. Together, they stepped into the time machine… Ready! Steady! Go! 🚀

From the future, they were greeted by a new generation of fully charged, perfectly programmed citizens! 🤖🔋

However, their journey revealed a startling future where the consequences of our choices had left Chennai struggling with depleted resources, damaged nature, and a way of life far removed from what we know today 🌍

Amidst the challenges, our children, team, and wider audience came together to imagine and work towards a future where nature, people, and possibilities can thrive together 🌱

Alongside the skit, the evening was brought to life by vibrant dance performances by the children from our learning centres, filling the stage with energy, rhythm, and joy!🤩

At Yein Udaan, we believe every child deserves a stage to express, explore, and shine, and our young performers brought that belief to life with every beat, every move, and every smile!😊

A burst of colour, laughter, rhythm, and thought-provoking moments as our children made their way into the hearts of the audience, celebrating Yein Udaan’s 8th Annual Production!8️⃣✴️

With one final celebration, we closed the evening with full hearts, loud cheers, and memories to carry forward💛

Just as we say at Yein Udaan, it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a whole team to create a moment like this 💛

Thank you for being the village behind their dreams💜✨
