On account of Green Tamil Nadu Mission Day, a tree plantation drive was organized today in our campus by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department in association with Sairam Institutions. As part of the initiative, 6 Naval saplings were planted.

Heartfelt gratitude is expressed to our Chairman and CEO for the constant inspiration and support. Sincere thanks are conveyed to our Principal for granting permission to conduct the program, and to our Trustee, Balu Sir, through whom all necessary arrangements were made.

A special acknowledgment is offered to our Campus 2 Principal, Dr. K. Pakanikumar Sir, under whose initiative the plantation drive was carried out. Appreciation is also extended to our dedicated students, by whom enthusiastic participation was witnessed in support of the Tamil Nadu Green Mission.

The proposed sites for the installation of solar lamps along the Tambaram–Somangalam main road were inspected today by the Forest Department team, led by Mr. Manikavasagam, Forest Ranger of Kundrathur Block.

The initiative was taken up in collaboration with Sri Sairam Engineering College to ensure enhanced rural infrastructure and safe travel during night hours . Immediate response was given by the District Collector, through whom the Forest Department was deputed for the inspection.

Through this timely support, the implementation of the solar lighting project has been brought one step closer. The local community is expected to be greatly benefited, road safety will be strengthened, and progress toward sustainable development will be ensured.

On account of World Cleanup Day, our Sairam UBA, NSS, Scouts, and LEO Club students enthusiastically organized a Beach Cleanup Initiative at Mamallapuram Beach. The drive was conducted with the valuable support of the Mamallapuram E1 Police Department , led by Inspector Mr. K. Balamurugan and his dedicated team.

Our student volunteers collected and handed over 126 kg of waste to the Solid Waste Collection Department, contributing to environmental sustainability and spreading awareness about the importance of keeping our shores clean.

We thank our Chairman & CEO Sir , our Principals and trustees for their continuous encouragement and support. Appreciation also goes to our coordinators, HODs, and volunteers for their active participation and dedication.

Today, our team from Sri Sairam Engineering College met Mr. Manikavasakam, Forest Ranger of Kundrathur Block, and submitted a request letter on behalf of Naduveerapattu Village Panchayat. The proposal seeks permission to install solar lamps along the Tambaram–Naduveerapattu main road, with the aim of enhancing road safety , promoting green energy , and reducing dependency on conventional sources .

We are grateful to Mr. Manikavasakam for kindly accepting our request and promptly forwarding it to the District Forest Officer (DFO) for further action.

This effort marks another step towards community welfare, sustainability, and rural development, aligning with our institution’s commitment to creating a better tomorrow.

Sri Sairam Engineering College is glad to share that our UBA Cell has initiated Rural Internship Phase 3 for Campus 2. The session featured an overview of the Rural Internship Policy along with a detailed presentation on the UBA Mobile Application, enabling our students to gain better insights into rural engagement practices.

We wholeheartedly appreciate the contributions of our students Bharani P (CSBS-B, SEC24CB107), Ramasri V (CSE, 2nd Year, SEC24CS227), Sumitha V (CSE, SEC24CS201), Sujatha (CSE), and Kaviya (CSE) for their efforts in preparing the presentation and ensuring the success of this program.

Sri Sairam Engineering College, through its Sairam UBA, Scouts for SDG, NSS, LEO Club, and YRC, jointly organized a Mass Cleanup Drive in association with TIEMA. The initiative was led by Mr. Ramesh Kanna, President of TIEMA, along with other representatives who actively participated. Our students collected 16 bags of plastic waste weighing approximately 75 kg, making a strong contribution towards environmental sustainability.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the office bearers of TIEMA for their support. Special thanks to our Chairman & CEO Sir, Trustee Mr. Balu Sir, and Principal Sir for their continuous encouragement and guidance in enabling such impactful initiatives.

Sri Sairam Engineering College is delighted to share that our UBA Cell and Sairam Techno Incubator, in association with Bhumi NGO, successfully conducted a STEM Lab Exposure Programme.

The initiative was designed to spark curiosity and inspire innovation among school students through practical exposure to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. A total of 318 students from 9th and 10th standards enthusiastically engaged in various STEM-based activities, gaining valuable hands-on learning experiences

We sincerely thank our Chairman & CEO Dr. Sai Prakash Leo Muthu Sir, Principal Dr. J. Raja Sir, Trustee Balu Sir, and Sairam Incubation COO Mr. Muthuvel Sir for their continuous encouragement and visionary guidance.

The Grama Sabha in Somangalam held on August 15th , identified waste management as a pressing concern. Taking this forward, our UBA student team, along with Village President Ms. Arikam Jayabal, Village Secretary Ms. Gowthamy, and Ward Member Mr. Sankar, visited Ward No. 2 to assess the situation.

The team examined garbage-dumped areas , interacted with local residents , and conducted a household survey to gather insights on challenges, awareness, and suggestions for better practices.

To explore sustainable solutions, a discussion was also held with Ms. Krishnapriya, CEO & Founder of Sprecro Recycle Ltd. This marks a vital step in initiating a model waste management practice and moving closer to a Green and Clean Somangalam Village under the LSDG theme.

Sri Sairam Engineering College UBA cell successfully organized a Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) awareness programme for our 2nd and 3rd-year students. A total of 148 students enthusiastically took part in a Drawing Competition and Essay/Article Writing on the themes “India I Dream, as a Young Voter” and “I am 17 – Ready to Register, Ready to Vote.”

The winners were honored with certificates, presented by Mr. S. Balaji, District Supply and Consumer Protection Officer & Sub Collector of Sriperumbudur, who graced the occasion as Guest of Honor.

A big appreciation goes to our UBA & Muthamizh Mandram volunteers, and our UBA SCOPE & Village SCOPE members, whose teamwork and enthusiasm made this programme impactful and inspiring.

Sri Sairam Engineering College is delighted to share the visit by 1st-year students to Somangalam Village Panchayat as part of the SOAR Initiative, where they interacted with village leaders and gained valuable insights on community development and environmental responsibility.

As part of the awareness drive, students distributed eco-friendly Manjappai bags to 50 households and spread awareness on reducing single-use plastics, encouraging sustainable practices.

We are delighted to share that, Our 1st-year AI&DS students visited Somangalam service village under the Unnat Bharath Abhiyan (UBA) initiative. The Village Panchayat President, Mr. Arikam Jayapal, and Village Secretary, Ms. Gowthamy, interacted with the students and shared the key focus areas for village development.

Our SCOPE Coordinator, Mr. Meiyanathan, together with Dr. Kishore Babu and Dr. Dinesh Kumar explained the scope of IEEE and UBA funding opportunities that can drive developmental projects in the village. They also reviewed the achievements made so far and presented the roadmap for upcoming initiatives.
The visit offered students a deeper understanding of how collective efforts contribute to rural transformation.
