Understanding substance abuse starts with an honest conversation.

Led by Dr. Sarah and DNS Ms. Priya, the session encouraged students to ask questions, understand how substance use can affect physical and mental health, and recognise how dependence can develop.

Through discussion and student participation, they also explored healthy ways to handle pressure and where to turn for support when needed.

Because knowing when to seek help is just as important as knowing the risks.

Early health checks can uncover what everyday life may not.

At Rudrappasamy School, students took part in health screening alongside one-to-one interactions, counselling and referrals where required.

The focus was not only on identifying concerns, but on helping students become more aware of their health and what they can do for it.

Because regular health checks can help students understand their health better.

An effective trauma response begins with understanding what happened, not just what can be seen.

Our review of 8 significant trauma and injury cases highlighted the importance of looking beyond the visible injury and considering the possibility of underlying risks.

A thorough assessment asks:
• What happened?
• What injuries are possible?
• Are the vital signs stable?
• Could there be a hidden risk?
• Does the situation require escalation?

Because good trauma care combines assessment, stabilisation, clinical consultation and appropriate referral.

Sometimes, the most important health concerns are the ones you don’t know to look for.

Over three days at Manchester Global School, Hyderabad, 500 students took part in health assessments, counselling and health education.

The initiative focused on early identification, preventive health awareness and timely follow-up where needed.

Because giving children the opportunity to understand their health early can help them make healthier choices as they grow.

A glucose reading provides valuable information. Understanding the person behind the number provides the bigger picture.

Across the 35 unique red-triage cases reviewed, markedly elevated capillary blood glucose readings were seen alongside a range of clinical presentations.

Putting the reading into context means knowing how to:
• Assess the person's overall condition
• Recognise accompanying changes
• Consider the wider clinical picture
• Identify when medical intervention is appropriate

Because good emergency care is not just about knowing the number.
It is about knowing what the number means.

Early recognition is the first step in emergency care.

Looking fine does not always mean being out of danger.

In suspected poisoning or medication ingestion, a person may remain conscious and responsive even when urgent medical evaluation is needed.

However, because GCS 15/15 means normal/full score, the phrase could be misunderstood by a general audience.

When poisoning is suspected, early identification, accurate information and timely medical referral matter.

A prepared campus knows that assessment begins before symptoms become obvious.

Good respiratory care starts with recognising when a breathing concern needs more than observation.

Among the 35 unique red-triage cases reviewed, respiratory presentations demonstrated the value of combining clinical observation with accurate measurement and timely intervention.

A clear respiratory response means knowing how to:
• Recognise changes in breathing
• Measure oxygen saturation accurately
• Stabilise appropriately
• Consult and escalate when required
• Ensure a clear clinical handover

Because when respiratory needs change, a structured response brings clarity to the situation.

When a cardiac concern presents on campus, knowing what to look for can make all the difference.

Our review of 35 unique Red Triage cases, collected over three years (2022–2026) from the Apollo SHINE first aid room, highlights a range of cardiac and circulatory presentations from marked heart-rate abnormalities to cases requiring CPR, emergency transfer and definitive cardiac intervention.

A prepared campus understands:
• How to recognise changing clinical signs
• When a first response needs to become an escalation
• How to coordinate urgent care
• How to support the person through the next stage of care

Early recognition, the right first response and rapid escalation can make the difference between delay and definitive care.

Mental health is part of everyday life, but conversations around it do not always come easily.

At MOP Vaishnav College, the session created space for students to think about how we interpret experiences, understand our own emotions and approach the inner worlds of others.

The discussion also explored an increasingly relevant question: when we turn to AI and digital tools for support, what role does human connection continue to play?

By opening up these conversations, students were encouraged to approach mental health with greater curiosity, empathy and openness.

Because understanding mental health begins with being willing to talk about it.

A neurological event can change quickly. A confident response starts with having a clear process.

Our review identified at least 7 cases neurological and altered-consciousness red-triage cases, including seizures, sudden unresponsiveness, collapse and medication non-adherence.

When neurological symptoms arise, the response begins with:
• Protecting the person
• Assessing what is happening
• Monitoring changes
• Escalating when clinically appropriate

The priority is not to panic, it is to recognise the warning signs early and respond with confidence, creating a safer campus for everyone.

Apollo Shine brings structured first response and clinical escalation closer to where students and staff are.
