Happy World Kindness Day.

There's always a kind way to get things done, sometimes there's a way to put it across subtly and while doing so, some may secretly appreciate your kindness and some may be vocal about it.

Below are few ways of how to put things across subtly while genuinely meaning it :

▪︎Pick up the phone and call a friend to just ask them how they are doing.
▪︎Reach out to a colleague and ask them if they need help with a task.
▪︎Compliment the sales person at the grocery store for helping you put.
▪︎List a few things out that you like about someone and post it in a letter.
▪︎Help a person with getting educated.

Follow for all things kindness.

"Everyone's eyes were on the clock. It was almost lunch time & I sensed how restless & excited my primary school students were to scurry out of class. So I quickly switched to a word game to indulge their distracted minds & bodies. Alas, the sound of the bell was sweeter than my voice!

The government school corridors were quite narrow & they knew better than to create a stampede as they left class to be the 1st in line to get their midday meal. Hence, as the students formed neat lines & mingled with their friends, I opened up my box with a few apple slices in them. As I continued to chat with my other colleague, a shy little student kept peeping into the classroom, wondering if she could come in. After much cajoling she agreed to come into class but held something in her hands behind her back.

My birthday had passed a few days ago, & since word got out, I made sure we had a little party in class. She made me close my eyes & extend my palm out. When I was told to open my eyes, I was a bit confused with what she placed in my hand. It was a sachet of jam.

I looked up at her confused, & this was what she said, "Miss, I didn't give you anything for your birthday, & I don't have anything else to give you. But this is my favourite jam, & you are so sweet just like it."

She didn't just give me a sachet of jam, she handed over everything she loved at that point of time. And that's a big deal for a 9-year old. It has to be one of the most precious moments I've experienced.

Random acts of kindness can be so small but so big with emotion. So, this post is dedicated to Anusha & my agents of change, who I miss dearly. I hope you all continue to shine & thrive, but most of all, never forget to share your kindness & love with this world."

"Back in 2017, December, I was on a shopping spree in Delhi with my sister, and this one day we had decided to take the Metro to travel from Connaught Place to our Hotel. This was my first time travelling in a Metro, but not hers. When I entered the coach we were surrounded by all men, and it was pretty crowded. – So much so that I couldn’t even hold anything while standing. That’s when two boys who were sitting in front of us stood up and offered their seats to us. As a natural reaction I said “no thank you, please sit“. They insisted “no no please take the seat”, and as I was continuing to decline their offer, my sister pulled my hand and got me to sit with her on those two seats. And as the train began, I kid you not – I felt the biggest jerk of my life as it started moving and I almost fell on the other person sitting beside me. All the while thinking what would’ve happened if I was still standing holding nothing.
What still hits me about this story is that they had no reason to give us their seats that day. They did not know it was my first time travelling in a Metro, nor was I pregnant or old (I was 21 at the time of this incident). And they still thought of giving us the seats. These guys really saved me from the embarrassment that day, without even knowing about it. We all know kindness goes a long way, but this was also a great reminder to trust your intuition and not reason it.
You never know how someone somewhere might need your help, and may still feel like helping them – in those moments, don’t hold yourself back!"

"I share a very beautiful bond with my mother... she's literally my best friend who knows everything about me... right from my crushes to sometimes my friend's crushes.
I love taking her out for shopping, long drives, lunches and movies... it's never enough... we always have a great time with each other's company.

It was the first time we were stepping out for lunch, post one and a half years of lockdown, and I wanted to do something special for her... so all I did was order a piece of chocolate cake with a note reading "Welcome Mom" (not sure why I thought of this and no I did not own the restaurant). As soon as we sat down, I had the restaurant serve it and she was in complete awe... her reaction was priceless... I honestly did not realise that such a small act would have this impact on her... it was a simple yet beautiful moment."

We humans are wired in such a way to think that if someone is being kind or nice to us, we can't believe it is done without any hidden motive.

We tend to forget that there is power in kindness, and most likely it is always without a hidden motive.

We at "The Kind Nook" are still obsessed with the Olympics, yeah we can be pretty late to the party and after party at times. This kindcident had to see the light of this page.

Polish javelin thrower, Maria Magdalena Andrejczyk, auctioned off her silver medal to help pay for an infant's heart surgery.

She took to her Facebook live and made this statement in order raise funds for 8-month-old Miloszek Malysa.

The Polish convenience store chain Zabka placed the top bid, paying $125,000 for the silver medal, but instead of collecting its prize, Zabka announced it would let Andrejczyk keep the silver medal after all.

Zabka announced that they were moved by her act of kindness and noble gesture and decided that the medal should remain with her which will now also symbolize how great she is.

After the auction closed, Maria Magdalena Andrejczyk, said in one of her posts that the medal was to her a "symbol of struggle, faith and the pursuit of dreams despite many adversities."
She went on to add further.
"I hope that for you it will be a symbol of the life we fought for together."
