A false PoSH complaint defines instances in which allegations are intentionally made up, exaggerated, or twisted. It is clear that the IC must not penalize a complainant merely because a case failed to be established. It must determine malicious intent before labelling any complaint as false.

Some of the key features of a false PoSH complaint are:
đź”°Allegations without any reliable foundation or occurrence of sexual harassment.
đź”°Forgery or distortion of facts.
đź”°Misuse of false statements or overstatements with the ulterior motive of causing harm to reputation.
đź”°Filing a false complaint due to personal grudges.

Misuse of PoSH complaints can undermine efforts to create a safer workspace, their impact is severe for all parties involved.

Need help training your IC to identify false complaints fairly?

Do join our weekly PoSH webinar series where we focus this week exclusively on handling false complaints.

Safe Space with Him: A Safe Space for Every Man towards vulnerability, masculinity and modeling allyship

This program focuses on unpacking how deeply ingrained patriarchal structures restrict not only women and marginalized people, but also men themselves —limiting their emotional well-being, discouraging vulnerability, and reinforcing violent behaviors and learning about ways to look after their mental health, get rid of patriarchy. By examining the root causes of misogyny and violence and the societal expectations placed on men as boys from an early age, this program is intended to encourage a collective reflection on gender norms and gender justice.

A key focus for this support group is helping men to be better allies. As we strongly believe that Awareness is critical to creating a community of allies to role model the behaviors required to build a truly inclusive culture in all spaces– we are collaborating with Sstraight Circle Foundation and India DEI Community to create a cross-network ally program to create and champion allies everywhere.

Key themes included:
🔰Engaging men across different spheres as active allies in gender justice movements
đź”°Raising boys with empathy, respect, and equality to prevent gender-based violence
🔰Challenging rigid gender roles and patriarchal structures
🔰Promoting emotional well-being and self-care among men, fostering deeper connections and healthier relationships
đź”°Encouraging men to share caregiving and household responsibilities

We’re connecting men as practitioners, educators, and activists, showcasing real examples of change already in motion and how much more is possible when we engage men and boys as active allies, from campus to workspaces, communities to virtual spaces to build those strong relationships and create connections to empower fellow men to be vulnerable and combat patriarchy, GBV, isolation and loneliness.

April 2 is Autism Awareness Day đź’™

It may seem like a small thing…
just wearing blue.

But for so many families,
it means being seen.
being understood.
being accepted.

👉 Autism isn’t always visible
👉 Kindness is always powerful

Today, we wear blue
for the children who feel overwhelmed
for the parents who fight silent battles
and for a world that is still learning to understand

đź’™ Wear blue.
đź’™ Show you care.
đź’™ Choose understanding over judgment.

🙏 If you support autism awareness, please share
You never know who needs to feel seen today.

Happy World Social Work Day 2026!

This year’s theme, “Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society,” is a reminder that real change happens when we pull together.

To the social workers who remind us of our strength when we’ve forgotten it - we see you.

You stand beside us during some of our hardest moments, helping rebuild safety, dignity and hope.

At AWARE India, we’re so fortunate to work alongside social workers because safety isn’t just about legal advice - it’s about supporting the whole person.

You live the spirit of Harambee every day - all for one.

We’re grateful to stand with you, today and every day. 💛

, safe and sustainable menstrual health and hygiene mission of AWARE India, conducts workshops for adolescents that they are armed with the right knowledge at the right time about menstruation.

Though there exists no right way to begin such a conversation, a young menstruator would surely want to know more about the following:

đź”° What precisely is menstruation and how common is its occurrence?
đź”° What are all the misconceptions about period and practices and how to eventually help sensitize?
đź”° How to follow safe and sustainable menstrual hygiene management practices?
đź”° Period-care products that are available: sanitary pads, menstrual cups, tampons, period panties
đź”° How to tackle periods when they are away from home?

When it comes to health talk on menstrual hygiene, it is vital to create a safe space for these early menstruators who can be free of taboos and judgements. After the initial stage of embarrassment subsides, we encourage them to pose questions and stimulate their curiosity.

Moreover, it is extremely crucial to prepare adolescent girls for periods practically. They are provided essential knowledge on what sanitary pads, tampons, period panties, and menstrual cups look like as well as ways to use them and dispose of them.

Our field work students interns from PG department of Social Work of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women ( ) - Ms.Rithanyshree, Ms.Artti, Ms.Sreevarshini under the guidance of their faculty guide conducted menstrual health session for the adolescents girls at Government Service Home Higher Secondary School in Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai

We thank the management, staff and every other student interns to help empower these young menstruators to get the much needed knowledge about menstruation.
