Having completed Community Service projects covering Environmental Sustainability, Support to Old Age Home and Women Empowerment ,on 1st July 2025, our Club proceeded to complete the installation of new office bearers of Interact Clubs of Akshar arbol International School T Nagar and Govt High School Old Alamathi in quick succession on 3rd July and 9th July respectively with Rtn M S Ravi District Chair Youth Service and Rtn Shyamala Jayaprakash District Interact Chair as Chief Guests. At Govt High School, Old Alamathi we arranged an environment awareness programme through Folk Music and Puppet show with support from Wockhardt Foundation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd under Swacchata Pakhwada programme. Members meeting on 6th July provided platform to fine tune the agenda for Installation ceremony to be held on 20th July. We didn't want to let go the intervening Sunday the 13th July . Free Eye Screening Camp was organised in association with Rotary Community Corps of Bluewaves at Thiruvalluvar Nagar Besant Nagar on 13th July. This camp was under the auspices of Sankara Eye Hospital Pammal and National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment Rtn Dr Susan verghese Co Chair District Community Service Health was the Chief Guest. 76 persons were screened at this camp. 6 were identified for free cataract surgery at Sankara Eye Hospital Pammal

01st July 2025
First of July heralds new hopes and newer ideas for Rotarians all over the world as this day marks the first day of the new Rotary Year. Rotarians roll up their sleeves to launch projects on this day. Rotary Club of Chennai Green City is no exception. The day started pretty much early for the Club Members as they have to reach "Mullai Vanam" in the interiors of Thirumullaivoyal at 7 30 a m to plant 25 nos Bibhitaki saplings ( Terminalia bellirica) தான்றி என்று தமிழில் அழைக்கப்படும் இந்த மூலிகை மரம் ஆயுர்வேத மருத்துவத்தில் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. With the support of volunteers from Exnora International 25 saplings were planted under phase -1 We plan to plant 25 saplings every quarter to reach 100 nos during this Rotary year. Mullai Vanam is a must visit place to unwind oneself in the beautiful Sylvan and Pastoral expanse. Having spent an hour of quality time at this priceless oxygen zone we moved to Sri Hari Hara Sudha Seva Samithi, an old age home Every year on the first day of Rotary year we make a humble contribution to this well run free senior citizens home under the benevolent care of Mrs & Mr Sethuraman Trustees. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at this divine place .We spent time among the senior citizens who always welcome us with warm smiles. We also extended financial assistance to Ms Nethra pursuing engineering course to participate finance her college fees. Thus our projects on day one encompassed Salutations to mother earth, Support to senior citizens home and Women empowerment. Rtn G Ravishankar District Director Community Service Development RI District 3234 graced all the events as Chief Guest His active participation and motivation were commendable Regards Rtn SNB

A project on environment imagined in 2022-23 , which created hope through funding in 2023-24 came to fruition this morning That's the Magic of Rotary. I am referring to the launch of Air Quality Monitoring Sensor at Spencer Plaza to create awareness among the public leading to actionable intelligence. Rtn Dr Nandakumar Past District Governor RID 3232 germinated this idea when I served as District Director Environment Mission under his Governorship My good friend Rtn Yadav Murti Sankaran helped me in identifying a AQM Sensor supplier Mr A Vaidyanathan PAQS Bangalore with the best features possible The demo was conducted when the first woman RI President Rtn Jennifer Jones visited Chennai in July 2022 After many iterations and demos RC Chennai Green City my home Club got District Grant to part fund the project . After marathon efforts where Rtns Ambalavanan and Saiseshan extended helping hands we ultimately chose Spencer Plaza thanks to the suggestion of our Member Rtn John Alex and the immediate nod from Mr M Balasubramaniam Director and Promoter Mangal Tirth Estate Limited They have also co sponsored this project For fear of omitting names I offer my salute to each and everyone who supported us immensely to implement this project This AQM Sensor displays 13 parameters of Air Quality on real time basis on a TV stationed is Phase 1 Atrium of Spencer Plaza PDG Rtn Dr N Nandakumar and Rtn Vinod Saraogi DGE were the Chief Guests and Mr M Balasubramaniam was the Guest of Honour at the well attended launch function this morning All the three delivered insightful and inspirational addresses on Environment Sustainability with facts and figures Audience had many take aways
