Happy MCSU Day

The Central Young Chakma Association extends its heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union (MCSU) on the joyous occasion of its Foundation Day.

Since its inception, the Union has played a vital role in safeguarding the rights and interests of Chakma students and in promoting educational awareness, unity and social responsibility among the younger generation. The commitment towards the welfare and empowerment of students remains highly commendable and inspiring.

On this special occasion, we wish the Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union greater success and strength in all its future endeavours. May the Union continue to grow from strength to strength and contribute meaningfully towards the progress and upliftment of our community.

CYCA receives computer set from ICT Minister

Kamalanagar, 15 May, 2026: The Central Young Chakma Association (CYCA) has received a computer set from the Hon’ble ICT Minister of Mizoram, who also holds charge of the Education Department. A request for the same was submitted by the association on 2nd April, 2026.

The computer set was received on behalf of the association by Shri Kali Kumar Tongchangya and other ZPM leaders during their recent meeting with the Minister in Aizawl, and has now been handed over to CYCA.

The computer set will immensely help the association in carrying out its official and organizational works, including community-related activities.

CYCA expresses sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister and all well wishers for their support and cooperation.

CYCA launches Official Website

In today’s rapidly changing world, communication and accessibility play an important role in building trust, unity, and public participation.

Understanding this need, the Central Young Chakma Association under Team Unity 2.0, guided by dynamic, educated, and farsighted leadership, has taken a modest yet meaningful step towards strengthening communication, transparency, and community engagement by launching its OFFICIAL WEBSITE through Google Sites.

The website shall regularly share updates on CYCA’s activities, programmes, engagements, and important developments so that members of the Association and the wider community may remain informed, connected, and actively engaged.

Though presently in its developing stage, the launch marks only the beginning of a progressive digital journey towards building a stronger, more accessible, and people-oriented CYCA.

In the days ahead, the Association shall strive to develop a strong, independent, and well-built website capable of engaging readers, well-wishers, and the wider society while truly reflecting the vision, identity, and aspirations of the Association and the community it serves.

The Central Young Chakma Association expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all the generous donors who have been contributing towards the medical treatment of Dg. Kalendra Chakma.

Till date, the CYCA has collected a total amount of Rs. 39,340/- from kind-hearted individuals, which has been transferred to his relatives who are taking care of his treatment and related expenses.

It is also heartening to know that his health is improving now, as a team from the CYCA visited him at Lunglei today.

APPEAL FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

We, the Central Young Chakma Association (CYCA), make a heartfelt appeal to the kindness and generosity of all to extend financial assistance to Dg. Kalendra Chakma (60 years), S/o Dg. Rattan Chan Chakma, a resident of Kamalanagar-IV, Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), Mizoram.

Dg. Kalendra Chakma has been battling severe health complications for the past several months, including a life-threatening gastritis ulcer accompanied by persistent high fever. Despite seeking treatment at Lunglei in April 2026, his condition has only worsened. Today, he lies in a critical condition, in urgent need of advanced medical care at a well-equipped hospital. Tragically, due to acute financial hardship, he is unable to afford the treatment that could save his life.

It is worth recalling that this is the same Kalendra Chakma who once stood courageously for his own Chakma people. As the then Karbari of Toijongdor village, he fearlessly approached the Gauhati High Court to fight against the illegal eviction of his fellow villagers. He dedicated his life to the cause of justice, dignity and the welfare of the community. Once regarded as a pillar of strength and a voice of resistance, he now finds himself in a moment of helplessness.

Today, the man who once stood for many is now standing alone in his darkest hour.

At this critical juncture, we humbly urge all community NGOs, kindhearted individuals, donors, and well-wishers to come forward and extend your support to help save his life. Let us stand together - not only to save a precious life, but also to honour a man who once dedicated his strength and courage for the welfare of his fellow Chakmas.

CYCA Takes Big Steps for Transparency & Stronger Organisation

The Central Young Chakma Association (CYCA) has adopted key reforms at its Office Bearers’ Meeting held on 30th April, 2026:

✔️ Designation of “Sr. Vice President” discontinued — two Vice Presidents to exist in both Central and Zonal Committees

✔️ Mandatory half-yearly financial reporting by all Zonal Committees

✔️ Central Audit Committee constituted for proper financial scrutiny of Zonal Committee funds

✔️ Bi-monthly CYCA Newsletter launched as an official communication platform

✔️ First Newsletter to be released by 10th May, 2026
