*Coordination Meeting on Saturation of Social Security Schemes in Namsai District*

On 11th August 2026, a convergence meeting with all concerned departments was held today at the Deputy Commissioner's Chamber, Namsai, to strengthen inter-departmental coordination and accelerate the saturation of key social security and welfare schemes across the district. The meeting focused on ensuring maximum coverage and enrollment of eligible beneficiaries under:
- Ayushman Bharat
- Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
- Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
- e-Shram Card
- Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY)
The meeting was attended by Shri Lobsang Tsering, Deputy Commissioner, Namsai; Dr. Keshav Sarmah, District Programme Officer (DPO), Mr. Chandan Prasad, CEO & Founder, Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT); Shri Ojing Taboh, Lead District Manager (LDM); BBM ARSRLM and other concerned departments.

Discussions focused on strengthening convergence mechanisms, streamlining beneficiary identification and enrollment processes, and ensuring effective last-mile delivery of welfare benefits to all eligible citizens.

As part of this initiative, 3,000 households across Namsai District within three blocks Chowkham, Lekang and Namsai will be covered through a targeted outreach and enrollment drive under the five identified social security schemes, ensuring that eligible families are linked with essential health insurance, social protection, and financial security benefits.

The initiative, implemented by Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT) and supported by Swasti, reflects a collective commitment to improving access to healthcare, social security, and financial protection for the people of Namsai District.

Today on 7th August 2026, an Eri Spinning Refresher Training was successfully conducted at CFC under Nongtham Handloom Cluster Producers Company Ltd. situated at Village Nongtham, Two experienced Resource Persons from Lakhimpur facilitated the session, sharing their knowledge on the Eri Value Chain, including spinning techniques on Abha Spinning Machine.

The participants showed remarkable enthusiasm and dedication throughout the training, actively engaging in discussions and practical learning activities. Their eagerness to learn and strengthen their skills reflects the growing interest in promoting traditional livelihoods through Eri silk.

The training also coincided with National Handloom Day, making the training even more meaningful.

AGM NABARD Shri Kamal Roy Visited the upcoming Rural Haat at Balinong, Changlang to review the progress of the NABARD-supported project being implemented by Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT) in collaboration with the Balinong Youth Association.

Once completed, the Rural Haat will provide a dedicated marketplace for farmers to sell their agricultural produce, improve market access, and strengthen rural livelihoods.

AGM NABARD also chaired the Project Monitoring and Review Committee (PMRC) meeting to assess the project's progress and discuss the way forward.

On the eve of National Handloom Day, Shri Kamal Roy, AGM NABARD visited Kumari Khamti Village in Namsai and interacted with the members of local SHGs engaged in handloom weaving. BLCCT has been promoting livelihood enhancement on Eri Silk Value Chain and Tailoring project under CMS Foundation since September 2025.

It was inspiring to see their craftsmanship and dedication to preserving the traditional weaving heritage. AGM NABARD also explored opportunities for NABARD support to promote Rural MSMEs and strengthen off-farm livelihood opportunities through skill development, value addition, and better market linkages.

On 07.08.2026, National Handloom Day was celebrated at Jona Kachari village in Namsai district with the distribution of 12 solar-powered Abha Eri Silk Spinning Machines to local weavers. The initiative aims to improve the livelihoods of rural artisans by reducing the drudgery of traditional hand spinning and increasing productivity. The programme followed the successful completion of a four-day training programme on Eri Silk Production conducted from 3 to 6 August 2026 under the support of the CMS Foundation.

National Handloom Day is observed every year on 7 August to commemorate the historic Swadeshi Movement of 1905, which promoted indigenous industries and encouraged the use of locally made products. The occasion recognises the invaluable contribution of the handloom sector in preserving India's rich cultural heritage while generating sustainable livelihoods for rural artisans.

As part of the initiative, three Producers Groups (PGs) were formed in Jona Kachari village through the efforts of Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT) in close coordination with ArSRLM. Each Producers Group received a grant of ₹2 lakh from ArSRLM, taking the total financial support to ₹6 lakh.

To modernise the Eri silk value chain, 12 Abha Solar-Powered Spinning Machines were provided to the Producers Groups. Each machine, with a market price of ₹25,500, received a subsidy of ₹13,575 from Resham Sutra and Selco Foundation, reducing the beneficiary contribution to ₹11,925 per machine. The machines are expected to improve productivity, reduce the physical effort involved in spinning, particularly for women artisans, and enhance the quality of Eri silk yarn.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Kamal Roy, AGM, NABARD, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest, highlighted NABARD's commitment to promoting rural non-farm enterprises, sustainable livelihoods, and handloom-based rural MSMEs. He encouraged the weavers to adopt modern technologies, work collectively through Producers Groups, and focus on quality production, value addition, branding, and better market access to improve their incomes.
Shri Chandan Prasad, CEO, BLCCT, spoke about transforming traditional weaving into a sustainable enterprise through entrepreneurship development, capacity building, and proper business planning. He also emphasised the importance of developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the long-term sustainability of the Producers Groups.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Ronald, Block Mission Manager, ArSRLM, Namsai, explained the objectives and benefits of forming Producers Groups and encouraged members to work together for collective growth. Smt. Kaitong Manlong, President, Umang Cluster Level Federation (CLF), assured continued support from the CLF, including working capital assistance to strengthen the newly formed groups.

The initiative is being implemented under a project supported by the CMS Foundation, with Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT) serving as the implementing partner in collaboration with ArSRLM, Namsai, and NABARD. Following the successful completion of the Eri Silk Production training programme, efforts are now underway to establish dedicated handloom and weaving Producers Groups to develop a complete and sustainable Eri silk value chain in the district.

The programme concluded with a shared commitment from all stakeholders to preserve the rich tradition of handloom weaving while creating better livelihood opportunities for rural artisans through technology, skill development, collective action, and institutional support.

2days intensive consultation programme conducted in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh by Roots to Branches Foundation under TATA Trust support.
Development Practitioner from diverse filed participated and share ground insights and experiences on different thematics. The dialogue has built a foundation of togetherness and created an opportunity to work in coordination for the community.
BLCCT, CEO Chandan Prasad also shared insight on Mindset - Compliance and Model on Livelihood and Climate resilient intervention.
Mr. Prahalad from IFET talked on Present Foundation education status and need, Ms Kaku from ACR talked on child labour issues, Dr. Runi shared her experience and status on drugs and substance pathetic influence on youths, Mrs Jarjum Gamling Ete a renowned social activist from Arunachal Pradesh shared her 4 decades experience on gender equity, Women Empowerment and prospective of holistic development, Ms Mudang shared sensitive issues of Disability and Inclusion.
Almost 22 CSO accross Arunachal Pradesh participated in the programme.

INAUGURAL CHANGLANG SHIKSHA SAMVAAD FOCUSES ON EDUCATION TRANSFORMATION

The inaugural Changlang Shiksha Samvaad, organised by the India Foundation for Education Transformation (IFET) in collaboration with Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust, brought together government officials, educators, civil society organisations and community representatives to strengthen public education in Changlang.
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner Vishal Sah, IAS, as the Chief Guest and Deputy Director of School Education Rajiv Lamdok as the Guest of Honour. Other prominent attendees included IFET Co-founder Simon Ronrang, former Minister Komli Mossang, CEO BLCCT, Chandan Prasad, CEO Aamyaa NGO, Arunachal Orphan Care Society Founder Reena Longri, BRCC and ZPM Chow Sache Singpho.
The discussions focused on collaborative governance, community participation, teacher empowerment and improving learning outcomes. The event concluded with the unveiling of the Changlang Commitment Wall, reaffirming stakeholders' collective commitment to quality education for every child.

Menstrual Hygiene Day Celebration at Diyun

On the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day, an awareness program was organized at Diyun with school students to promote the importance of menstrual hygiene and health. The event featured an informative awareness session, a poster-making competition, and a rangoli competition, encouraging students to express their understanding and support for menstrual health awareness.

The awareness session was conducted by Ms. Deori, Nurse at CHC Diyun, who shared valuable insights on menstrual hygiene management and the importance of breaking taboos surrounding menstruation. SHG members, the Project Coordinator, and the Program Head of BLCCT also participated and interacted with the students.

The program was sponsored by Oil India Limited, implemented by NAB Foundation, and supported on the ground by BLCCT. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and community members, making it a meaningful step toward promoting health, dignity, and awareness among young people.

Empowering women, strengthening livelihoods 🌿✨

A team from Resham Sutra, Youvati’, along with the Programme Manager and Project Associate from BLCCT, visited Majkhowa Gaon in Dhakuakhana and Ghilamara, Mohbol on 15th June 2026 to meet and support women entrepreneurs working in the Eri and Muga sector.

Last month, Eri and Muga machine credit linkage was successfully completed in these areas. Inspired by the dedication and hard work of the women entrepreneurs, the Youvati’ team visited the field to provide additional support through returnable grants (0% interest loans) and credit linkage opportunities for 20 women entrepreneurs.

This initiative aims to help women become financially stronger and self-reliant. Eligible women entrepreneurs (18+), having a smartphone and a household income below ₹25,000 per month, can avail the support by downloading the Youvati app and filling out the application form.

The repayment process is made simple and flexible, allowing women to return the loan in small monthly amounts over 5–10 months, with no interest for the first two months.

The Valedictory and Certificate Distribution Program for the Wood Craft Training was successfully conducted, marking the completion of a two-month intensive training initiative sponsored by the DC Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and implemented by the Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust.
The training was carried out under the expert guidance of Empanelled Designer Mr. Uday Kr. Singh and Master Craftsman Onggam Singpho, whose mentorship played a vital role in shaping the skills of the participants.

Over the course of the program, artisans gained valuable hands-on experience and developed meaningful skills in wood craft, enhancing their creativity and craftsmanship. The training has empowered them to create fascinating designs and opened new avenues for livelihood opportunities.
