ਸਾਂਝੇ ਵਫ਼ਦ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੇ ਨੀਤੀਗਤ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਲਿਆਉਣ, ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਚੁੱਕਣ, ਸਕੂਲ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਬਦਸਲੂਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖ਼ਲੇ ਲਈ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਮੁੱਖ ਨੀਤੀਗਤ ਸਿਫ਼ਾਰਸ਼ਾਂ
1. ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਲਈ “Edc.” ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਤ ਸਨਮਾਨ-ਸੂਚਕ ਅਗੇਤਰ
ਵਫ਼ਦ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਕਿ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ “Edc.” (Educator) ਦਾ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਅਗੇਤਰ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਮਾਨਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ’ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਾਕਟਰਾਂ ਲਈ “Dr.” ਅਤੇ ਇੰਜੀਨੀਅਰਾਂ ਲਈ “Er.” ਵਾਂਗ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਪਛਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੇ।
2. ਸਕੂਲ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਰਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ
ਵਫ਼ਦ ਨੇ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਥਿਤ ਗਲਤੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ, ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਕੂਲ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੰਗਾਮਾ ਕਰਨ, ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਨਾਲ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਟਕਰਾਅ ਕਰਨ ਜਾਂ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਕਰਨ ’ਤੇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਰੋਕ ਹੋਵੇ।
ਹਰ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ, ਸਕੂਲ ਮੈਨੇਜਮੈਂਟ ਜਾਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਤ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਲਾਗੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ।
3. ਸਕੂਲ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖ਼ਲੇ ਲਈ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਨਿਯਮ
ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵਫ਼ਦ ਨੇ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਸਕੂਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਜਕਾਰੀ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖ਼ਲਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤਸਦੀਕਸ਼ੁਦਾ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ, ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਤ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਤੱਕ ਸੀਮਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।

Sikh Vidayak Foundation & Sikh Vidayak Board Submit Memorandum to Hon’ble Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha for CM Punjab Regarding Educational Reforms, Teacher Honorifics, and School Security
CHANDIGARH — A high-level delegation representing the Sikh Vidayak Foundation and the Sikh Vidayak Board submitted a formal proposal addressed to the Chief Minister of Punjab through the Office of the Hon’ble Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
The joint delegation called for urgent legislative and policy measures to elevate the societal status of teachers, protect educators from on-campus harassment, and enforce strict entry protocols across educational institutions in Punjab.
Key Policy Recommendations Submitted:
Official Honorific Prefix "Edc." for Educators:
The proposal requests the Government of Punjab to officially sanction and recognize "Edc." (Educator) as a professional prefix for teachers, giving them equal formal professional recognition alongside doctors ("Dr.") and engineers ("Er.").
Legal Safeguards Against On-Campus Misconduct:
The delegation requested strict legal provisions prohibiting parents, guardians, or outside parties from creating disruptive scenes, confronting staff, or harassing educators on school premises in the event of an alleged mistake. The policy mandates that all grievances must be submitted strictly through official channels, such as the Principal, School Management, or the State Education Department.

ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਾਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦਾ—ਉਹ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਦਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗਾ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਗਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ, ਚਰਿੱਤਰ, ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਘੜਦਾ ਹੈ।

🌿 Mind Wellbeing Workshop at APKF School, Kallah

Building Emotionally Strong Schools, One Teacher at a Time

Sikh Vidyak Board continues to work towards creating an educational ecosystem where academic excellence goes hand in hand with emotional well-being, character and holistic development

As part of this vision, a *Mind Wellbeing Workshop* was organised at *APKF SCHOOL , Kallah*, bringing together teachers and principals for a meaningful day of learning, reflection and practical training.

The workshop was facilitated by *Madam Harwinder Kaur Pabla Ji from Chandigarh, Edunexa International*, whose energy, command over the subject and engaging methodology created an atmosphere of openness and active participation right from the beginning.

🔹 Learning Through Real-Life Situations

One of the key highlights of the workshop was the use of *case studies*.

The participants were divided into groups and presented with *seven different case studies*, each representing situations and challenges that may arise in the life of a school and its students.

Rather than simply discussing theoretical solutions, teachers and principals were encouraged to analyse each situation, identify shortcomings and collectively explore:

* What could have been handled differently?
* How should a teacher respond to a child?
* Where does communication break down?
* What role does empathy play?
* How can a school create a supportive environment for a child?

Through multiple activities, participants learned a *step-by-step approach to handling issues raised by children*

The workshop reinforced an important message:

*Well-being cannot be an occasional activity in a school. It has to become part of the culture of the institution*

A healthy school is one where children feel heard, understood, respected and supported.

🌱 From Completing the Syllabus to Igniting Young Minds

During the workshop, *Dr Davinder Singh Johal Ji*, drawing from his vast experience of working with different educational boards and training teachers, shared several important reflections on the role of an educator.

He emphasised the need for teachers to focus not merely on academic delivery, but on building meaningful relationships with students.

Among the key messages were:

*1. Communication* – A child needs to feel that the teacher is approachable.

*2. Helping Behaviour* – Help should come without selfish motives or expectations.

*3. Remove Mental Blocks* – Teachers must remain open to understanding children and new situations.

*4. Avoid Rigidity* – Every child is different; one rigid approach cannot work for everyone.

*5. Build Confidence* – A teacher's words and behaviour can either strengthen or weaken a child's confidence.

*6. Prayer* – Along with professional responsibility, spiritual grounding can provide strength, patience and perspective.

One thought beautifully captured the larger purpose of education:

*“The purpose of a teacher is not merely to complete the syllabus; it is to ignite the young mind.”*

This is precisely the kind of transformation that Sikh Vidyak Board seeks to encourage in educational institutions.

🧠 Practical Tools for Difficult Moments

The workshop also included a valuable session by *Bibi Amriteshwar Kaur Ji, Counsellor and Expert from Chandigarh*, who shared practical guidance on responding to emergency situations involving children.

Participants were introduced to simple techniques such as:

* *Grounding techniques*
* *Box breathing*
* Practical ways of responding calmly during emotionally difficult situations
* Understanding the immediate needs of a child during a crisis

Her exceptional energy, clarity and command over both the subject and language made the session particularly impactful.

The emphasis was clear: *when a child is struggling, the first response of an adult can make a significant difference.*

🌟 An Educational Vision Rooted in Sikh Values

The workshop was also an opportunity to reflect on the larger vision of Sikh Vidyak Board.

*S Gurdip Singh Ji*, Chairman of Sikh Vidyak Board, author and trainer, summed up the workshop with inspiring words about the role and vision of the Board. He reminded participants that meaningful educational change requires a collective effort and a commitment to continuously learn, improve and evolve.

🧰 Taking Learning Beyond the Workshop

A special *Mind Wellbeing Toolkit* was presented to the participating principals.

The objective is not for the workshop to remain a one-day event. The toolkit will help principals and institutions take the learning forward and begin implementing a *mind wellbeing system within their schools*.

This is an important step towards creating schools where well-being becomes an integral part of the educational process rather than an additional activity.
