Why an Ad Hoc Committee ?
I’m Neeraj Yashpaul, and for the last decade I’ve proudly represented Chandigarh as one of the region’s leading men’s tennis players.
First of all, I want to sincerely thank every player, parent, coach and stakeholder who has supported our Players First campaign. We are now close to 250 signatures, and every signature strengthens the voice of our tennis community.
This campaign is not against anyone.
It is for every player whose dream depends on fair opportunities, recognised tournaments and transparent governance.
As we all know, Chandigarh tennis has suffered because of years of governance failures. The Chandigarh Administration eventually terminated the lease of the Sector-10 Tennis Stadium after nearly four decades. That was a significant decision, and it has opened the door for meaningful reform.
Today, however, Chandigarh faces a governance vacuum. For the past nine months, we have had no recognised AITA or ITF tournaments. The biggest sufferers are not administrators—they are the players.
Young athletes are losing ranking opportunities. Parents are spending huge amounts travelling outside Chandigarh. Coaches and academies are struggling to provide competitive opportunities.
