For a teacher, there can be no greater honour than witnessing his students rise to positions of leadership and shape the future of higher education. That proud moment has come for Prof. (Dr.) G.C. Mishra, former Professor at the Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (UICET), Panjab University, whose disciples are now occupying some of the highest academic offices in the country.
In a remarkable coincidence, two of his distinguished students have recently been entrusted with the leadership of prestigious universities. Prof. Meenakshi Goyal has been appointed as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University by the Hon'ble Chancellor of the University and the Vice President of India, while Prof. Anupama Kaushik Sharma has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology by the Hon'ble Chancellor and Governor of Uttar Pradesh.
The list of accomplishments does not end there. Another of Prof. Mishra's accomplished students, Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Jha, who earned his Ph.D. under his guidance, has been appointed Principal of Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology, an institution under the Department of Science, Technology & Technical Education, Government of Bihar.
Adding a touching dimension to this story is another happy coincidence. Both Prof. Anupama Kaushik Sharma and Prof. Meenakshi Goyal had earlier been honoured with the Teachers' Excellence Award in 2023 and 2024, respectively, at the Annual Teachers' Excellence Awards jointly organised by the Manav Mangal Group of Schools and the Dr. G.C. Mishra Memorial Educational & Charitable Trust. The recognition they received as inspiring teachers has now found an even greater affirmation in their elevation to the office of Vice-Chancellor.
