A serious issue of alleged harassment involving students has come to light at Baba Balraj Panjab University Constituent College, Balachaur, affiliated with Panjab University. As many as 16 students have reported being harassed by a teacher of the institution.
In response to the situation, a group of affected students visited Panjab University, Chandigarh today to meet the Vice-Chancellor and raise their concerns. Taking the matter seriously, the university authorities have constituted a committee, which includes students from the concerned college, to conduct a thorough inquiry into the allegations.
The university administration has assured the students that strict and appropriate action will be taken against the teacher if found guilty after investigation.
The Ambedkar Students’ Forum (ASF) has extended its full support to the affected students. Members of ASF not only assisted the students in bringing their concerns before the authorities but also stood in solidarity with them during this difficult time. ASF has assured the students that it will continue to support them and stand firmly by their side in every situation.
ASF has also issued a warning to the university authorities that if the matter is not resolved by Monday, the organization will begin a protest outside the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
The students have expressed hope that justice will be delivered and that necessary steps will be taken to ensure a safe and respectful academic environment for all.

The Ambedkar Student Forum (ASF), Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized a seminar on the theme “Discrimination in Higher Education” on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Jyotirao Phule and B. R. Ambedkar at the P.L. Auditorium, Evening Department, Panjab University.
The seminar was graced by Rattan Singh, Vice Chancellor of Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included T. R. Saranghal and Kulawant Sarangal. The keynote address was delivered by noted writer and documentarian Gurinder Azad.
Among the prominent attendees were Associate Dean Kashmir Singh, DSW Women Welfare Namita Gupta, Dr. Rajni, and several other professors, who also shared their valuable experiences and perspectives during the seminar.
Dr. Rajni and all distinguished also addressed the gathering. He elaborated on how caste-based discrimination continues to affect the education system and emphasized the need for legal awareness and institutional accountability to ensure equality in higher education.
The speakers highlighted key issues such as caste-based inequality, gender discrimination, economic barriers, and institutional bias. They stressed the importance of creating inclusive and equitable educational spaces in line with the ideals of Phule and Ambedkar.
A large number of students and faculty members attended the seminar and actively participated in the discussion.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the esteemed guests, speakers, and participants for making the seminar a meaningful success.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, the ASF (Ambedkar Student Forum) organized a book stall and photo exhibition at Student Center , Panjab University Chandigarh to commemorate the life and contributions of the great social reformer.
The book stall featured a wide collection of books on social justice, equality, and the teachings of renowned leaders like Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule. Students showed great enthusiasm and actively explored the literature available at the stall.
A photo exhibition was also set up, showcasing important milestones and contributions of Mahatma Phule, particularly his efforts towards promoting education and fighting against social discrimination. The exhibition attracted a large number of visitors and helped raise awareness about his role in shaping a more equal society.
Members of the Ambedkar Student Forum highlighted the relevance of Phule’s ideals in today’s time and encouraged students to follow his path of education and social reform. The initiative aimed at spreading awareness and inspiring young minds.
The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, who appreciated the efforts of ASF in organizing such an informative and inspiring program.
