79th Independence day Invitation to Sector 17 Parade Ground – 15th August 2025

On 15th August 2025, the Chandigarh Administration held its official Independence Day celebration at the Sector 17 Parade Ground. The event was graced by Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, along with dignitaries, defence personnel, and citizens.
DISHA – A Special School of INPA – was formally invited to attend the event, with the Administration ensuring accessibility, comfortable seating, and a welcoming environment for students, teachers, and caregivers.
The programme began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Administrator, followed by the ceremonial guard of honour. The Administrator’s address honoured freedom fighters, celebrated the nation’s achievements, and reaffirmed the commitment to inclusivity and harmony.
Cultural performances by city schools, including patriotic songs, folk dances, and skits, showcased India’s rich heritage. DISHA’s presence was acknowledged with special appreciation for promoting inclusivity.
The celebrations concluded with the entire gathering singing the National Anthem in unison, fostering a deep sense of national pride.

79th Independence Day Celebration at INPA – 14th August 2025

On 14th August 2025, INPA marked the occasion with a heartfelt programme at its premises. The event began with the National Anthem, as staff and students gathered to honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters and reflect on the nation’s journey.
The Chief Guest, Sh. A.K. Kundra, IAS (Retd.), Chairperson of SOSVA, Karuna Sadan, Chandigarh, addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of freedom, unity, and social responsibility.
Students presented
energetic dance performances on patriotic songs, showcasing their creativity and love for the nation. A hand painting activity encouraged inclusivity and artistic expression among participants.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of refreshments by Prof. Dr. Tehal Kohli, President of INPA, alongside the Chief Guest, leaving attendees with a strong sense of unity and pride.

On February 15, 2024, the Indian National Portage Association (INPA) marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 11th annual function at the Indira Holiday Home in Chandigarh. Founded 44 years ago by the esteemed educationist Prof Dr. Mrs. Tehal Kohli, INPA has been at the forefront of special education in India, dedicated to the advancement and upliftment of specially-abled children. The event, held under the theme of 'inclusive education,' exemplified INPA's commitment to creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for children of all abilities.

The occasion was graced by distinguished guests, including Mr. AK Kundra (Retd. IAS and Chairman of SOSVA), , and Brig. Keshav Chandra (Retd. , Chief Engineer (Army) and Director SOSVA). Their presence added significance to the event and underscored the importance of inclusive practices in education and society at large.

Throughout the day, attendees were treated to a rich tapestry of performances showcasing the talents and creativity of the children. From vibrant dance routines to heartfelt poetry recitations, each performance captivated the audience and conveyed powerful messages of inclusion and acceptance.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS
Independence Day Celebrations held in Inclusive setting with full enthusiasm by DISHA Early Intervention Special Children & Composite Anganwadi children with the help of INPA Special Educators, INPA Phycologists, INPA Staff, INPA Physiotherapists, INPA Students as well as ICDS Staff. Cultural Programs and various patriotic songs were presented by the children. Refreshments were also distributed during the function much to the rejoice of the children.
