Bharat Prakarsh Foundation "The role of BPF is to act as a social conscience for the nation. Bharat Prakarsh Foundation is a NGO registered in 2006 as a public charitable trust.

Our mission is to work with Government schools, business and the community to give young people an excellent education and equal access to opportunity. The objectives being as under:

- to empower economically under-privileged children through education by providing scholarships to the meritorious students studying in government schools.

- to promote the "Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan" in the Northern sta

tes by partnering with the Chandigarh, Punjab ,Haryana and HP Education Departments for qualitative improvement and setting up more such centres with the mission of education for all.

- to instill excellence in education through modern and innovative training methodologies and promoting such " model schools".

- to bring tech-savvy solutions to schools for building efficiencies and economies of scale through new softwares and hardware.

- to improve Child health in India through Quality Interventions.

- to promote Human Capital especially for the underprivileged for growth and equitable development.

We received a request from SOREM, an institution for the rehabilitation of mentally challenged children and young adults to sponsor the special education of 2 students. The annual fees for each child is Rs 60000/. The students are:

Anshu age 13 years with 90% intellectual disability, yet good in sports. Father is a driver and earns Rs 20000/ month. He is the only earning member in the family. They have two more children, aged 9 and 5 years, they are normal and study in a Govt. School.

Aarav age 13 years, with intellectual disability but good grasp in basic literacy and sports. Father is a technician earning Rs 22000/ month and has 5 dependents in the family - wife, father, mother, daughter and son Aarav. We had sponsored their special education last year too and they are showing good progress in school.

Our GC Member Mr Sushil Gupta through his family trust—Rakesh K Gupta Memorial Charitable Trust has kindly donated 30000/ and Rs 10000/ has been given by our Patron Sh Ashok Khanna, Ms Anju Bhatia, Patron, has contributed Rs 5000/ and Sh Darshan Mahendru, our GC Member has also contributed Rs 5000/. Our grateful thanks to them for their generosity. BPF has contributed the balance amount towards sponsorship of the special education of these two children as SOREM has agreed to waive 50% fees in these EWS cases.

Visited Snehalaya for Boys in Maloya on 18th March. The 4 boys recommended for scholarships were met on 6th March. The Superintendent/ warden of the institution were also met. These children are under state protection as they are children at risk. As 2 boys were underage, we selected 2 boys for awarding a scholarship.These children are doing well in both academics and sports. Despite their challenging backgrounds, (being orphans), they have high aspirations. Dheeraj has represented the State in rugby and wants to study for NDA to join the Army. Veeru dreams of becoming a doctor.

On 18th March, scholarships were given to these two students and they were motivated to study well, develop self-confidence and nurture good values to become good citizens. May God bless the caregivers who are taking care of these children with love and affection.

The Superintendent thanked BPF for motivating the children and hoped that we would continue to do so in future too.

Visited Snehalaya for Girls - Ashiana Child Care Home in Sector 15 on 7th March to meet the children living in the Home, alongwith the four boys from Snehalaya. The Superintendents/ wardens of the institution and Child Welfare officers were also met. These children are under state protection as they are children at risk. 4 girls were recommended for a scholarship by the institution.

On 18th March scholarships were given to these four students and they were motivated to study well, develop self-confidence and nurture good values to become good citizens. May God bless the caregivers who are taking care of these children with love and affection.

Visited Govt. Model High School Sector 36 D on 3rd March to interact with the students recommended for scholarships. The students were met in the school and it was heartening to listen to them talk about their challenges and dreams. We selected 10 students - 5 boys and 5 girls, studying in Class IX for awarding scholarships. These students have performed well academically and three of them had been selected last year too.

The Principal, Class Teacher and Jyoti Duvedi, Senior Teacher were very cooperative and assisted in the process. All the students will be given a scholarship of Rs 5000/ each to cover their school fees, uniform and books. These students will be mentored and guided for academic excellence and personality development.

Visited Govt. Senior Secondary School, Dhanas for meeting the students recommended for a scholarship. We selected 10 students for BPF Scholarships. The students belong to economically underprivileged backgrounds but are doing well academically.

The students were met in the school and friends Mrs Madhu & Mr Aniket Khullar supported the interviews at Dhanas. The Principal & Class Teacher Pooja were very cooperative. The children have high aspirations and given proper guidance and support can do well in life.

All students are being given a scholarship of Rs 5000/ each to cover their school fees, uniform and books. These students will be mentored and guided for academic excellence and personality development.

Visited SOREM yesterday to introduce Col Guljit Chadha to the institution, its management, teachers and the children/ young adults. He was impressed and glad to see the good work being done. The products being made by them were of good quality - candles, bags, soaps, jute products, chocolates, and grocery items.
We will help SOREM in their marketing efforts and getting Volunteers to support their activities. We also met Aarav the child being supported by BPF.

"MERA BASTA MERI SHAAN"
Under Rotary Club of Chandigarh project "Nanhe Deepak", 100 School bags were sponsored by BPF and distributed today to school children of Govt Senior Secondary School, Khudda Lahora, Chandigarh. The EWS students were identified by the school from all classes and bags were distributed. The President of Rotary Club Ms Abha Joshi Sharma and other dignitaries from the club participated in the program. The Principal thanked us for the generous gesture. The students were counselled to study well and truly become enlightened with knowledge and good morals to spread their light in society.

Students of Govt. Model High School Sector 36 Chandigarh took out a rally in the Fragrance Garden to educate youngsters about drug de-addiction.
The students were encouraged by the teachers and they raised many slogans to spread awareness. A good initiative by the school.

HT Pace of Hindustan Times Media Group invited me to LitFest 2025 – Celebrating Weaving Words, Wonders & Worlds, a one-day Inter-School Literary Festival, organized in collaboration with Moti Ram Arya School, Chandigarh, on May 2, 2025, at the school campus.

I was as a Judge for the Book Cover & Book mark category to evaluate the creative work of talented student participants from many schools. The theme was “Harry Potter” the much-loved character of JK Rowling’s books. I was amazed to see the artistic talent of the students and their expertise in designing book covers and book marks!
