The NSS Unit of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School – 21A, Chandigarh observed Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas Pakhwada to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the legendary freedom fighter and revered tribal leader whose legacy continues to inspire India’s commitment to justice, dignity, and cultural diversity.
The programme reflected upon the profound contributions of tribal communities in shaping India’s national history and strengthening its socio-cultural fabric. Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s exceptional courage, his unwavering leadership in safeguarding the rights of indigenous communities, and the timeless relevance of his ideology were highlighted throughout the observance.
As part of the activities, a short video titled “Life and Contributions of Birsa Munda” was screened for students. A special lecture was delivered during the morning assembly, followed by a virtual tour of the Janjatiya Museum. A painting competition was also organised to encourage students to creatively express their understanding of tribal culture and Birsa Munda’s contributions. The audio-visual presentation further enriched students’ knowledge of the deep-rooted tribal heritage that continues to influence contemporary India.
The observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas Pakhwada reaffirmed the school’s commitment to honouring the invaluable contributions of tribal communities and promoting awareness of their significant role in shaping India’s history, identity, and shared cultural diversity.
