Miss Joyhring Ruwndar A**l D/o Rev Rd Joykumar and Ts Hringhlung of Cheengkhu village received the Best Paper Presenter Award at the International Conference on “Intersections of Traditional Knowledge Systems and the Future: Law, Culture, Sustainability, and Collective Well-Being” organised by DME Law School, Noida.

The Award was presented to Joyhring by the Chief Guest, Meenakshi Lekhi, Former Minister of State for External Affairs of India, Supreme Court of India and Hon'ble Mr. Justice Bhanwar Singh, Judge Allahabad High Court and Director General, DME Noida.

Miss Joyhring is a PhD Scholar at Assam Agricultural University Department of Resource Management and Consumer Science.

Her Research Paper Titled :

Story of the day:

In early March 2026, seven dogs from neighboring households in China were stolen by thieves who intended to sell them to a dog meat restaurant. The group consisted of a German Shepherd, a Golden Retriever, a Corgi, and several other breeds that had grown up together and often played as a pack.

On March 16, while being transported in a moving truck along a busy expressway, the dogs escaped by forcing open the cage or jumping out during transit. Rather than dispersing, they remained united as a group and immediately started the difficult journey back to their village.

The small Corgi took the lead position at the front, repeatedly glancing back to ensure the entire group stayed together. In the middle of the pack, the others surrounded and shielded an injured German Shepherd, adjusting their speed to match its slower pace and protect it from further harm while crossing high-traffic roads and crossing open fields.

Local people noticed the determined pack, filmed additional footage, and posted updates online, allowing volunteers and animal lovers to track their approximately 17-kilometer trek over the following days.

By March 19, all seven dogs had safely arrived back at their village and were joyfully reunited with their owners from three separate households. Veterinary checks showed they were in stable condition, with only minor injuries from the escape and journey.

The remarkable story spread rapidly across social media, receiving hundreds of millions of views and generating strong support for greater animal protection measures and opposition to the dog meat trade.
