Swayam Swayam is a feminist organisation committed to ending discrimination and violence against women (VAW).

We provide Direct Support Services to women facing violence and work to create an environment where VAW is unacceptable. Swayam envisions a non-discriminatory, violence-free and gender-equal society where all human beings enjoy equitable rights and opportunities irrespective of their s*x, gender, s*xual orientation, age, class, caste, ethnicity, religion, nationality, language, and mental/physical

abilities. Swayam works at both at the curative and the preventive levels. On the one hand we facilitate the empowerment of women survivors of violence and enable them to become self-confident, self-sufficient and self-reliant. On the other, we generate discussion, debate and action in society, to challenge and change societal norms and values that deem violence against women acceptable as well as break the silence that shrouds the violence. Swayam’s holistic approach includes comprehensive Direct Support Services for women facing violence including counselling, psychotherapy, police follow up, legal advice, legal aid, career counselling, vocational training, referrals for shelter and employment, a drop-in-centre, child support and numerous group activities to promote women’s creativity and positive mental health. Our Initiatives for Social Action and Change Programme includes public education and awareness building; producing creative resources; disseminating information and sharing expertise; networking with like-minded organisations/institutions for systemic change and intervening in rural and urban communities to build a violence-free and gender-just society.

Thank you all for making our 3rd Session of the webinar series “Voices of Feminism" a success!
"Collective Future – Ecofeminism and Environmental Justice” was an inspiring and thought-provoking conversation between two eminent speakers - Vandana Shiva and Seema Kulkarni. We are elated to have Vandana Shiva with us! We thank her and her team for making her participation possible. Seema Kulkarni moderated the session seamlessly, weaving in her thoughts and insights. They shared their own journey in eco feminism, deliberated on today's realities as it unfurls. We are grateful to all 119 participants who joined us and contributed to this meaningful dialogue. Your presence and engagement made the event truly impactful.

To reflect. To recommit. To carry the journey forward.

Day 3 brought us together to pause and take stock of all that had emerged over the past two days. Through collective discussions, and shared reflections, we identified common priorities, celebrated diverse experiences, and explored the directions the movement needs to take.

Some of the most moving moments came as participants shared their reflections through the and wrote their individual commitment cards - reminding us that movements are sustained not only by collective vision, but also by personal commitments and everyday acts of courage.

As we closed the conference, we carried with us new connections, renewed energy, and a shared belief in the power of coming together to imagine and build more just futures. ❤️

Now to work on the priorities we identified! 😊
