a group of Chauhan nobles from Ajmer were pushed south by Mohammed of Ghori. They wrested the Bundi area from the Mina and Bhil tribes and made Bundi the capital of their kingdom, known as Hadoti. Bundi was generally loyal to the Mughals from the late 16th century on, but it maintained its independent status until incorporated into the state of Rajasthan after 1947.

"Rani Ji Ki Baori" was built in 1699 by Rani Nathavati ji, is one of the popular step wells in bundi town, Rajasthan. It is the largest stepwell in Bundi with about 50 stairs. During the medieval era, this boari was very popular meeting place for the local people for social and religious reasons. It has a narrow entrance with stone structures of elephants facing each other and is a multi story structure. At the entrance there are four pillars which show cases beautiful figurines and there is a tall standing arch shaped gate .
