Our round-table debate brought together students to critically examine one of the most important questions surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup: Has this tournament truly advanced its mission of uniting the world?

The discussion explored how the World Cup serves as more than a sporting event, it is a platform where cultures, religions, and nations meet. Participants reflected on the growing presence of Muslim countries in international football, the public expression of Islamic faith through goal celebrations, prostration (sujūd), and prayers, and how these moments contribute to global perceptions of Islam.

The debate also addressed contemporary geopolitical realities, including expressions of solidarity with Palestine, the participation of Iran amid political tensions, and the broader question of whether all nations experience equal inclusion on football's biggest stage. Students further examined whether the increasing visibility of Muslim athletes has helped challenge Islamophobia and promote intercultural understanding.

The session concluded by recognizing that while football has a unique power to connect people across borders, the ideals of unity, equality, and inclusion continue to be tested by political, cultural, and social realities.

A thought-provoking discussion that demonstrated how sport can become a gateway to deeper conversations about our shared world.

تم تدشين هذا الحدث في حضرة الأستاذ صديق الأكبر الهدوي، رئيس جامعة دار الهدى الإسلامية، البنغال الغربي، خلال افتتاح دروس الدفعة الخامسة عشرة. كما سعدنا بحضور رحمة صاحب، الأستاذ مدثر حسين الهدوي، محمد نور أسهان الحاج، الأسناذ نور الدين الهدوي، حسن نور الهدوي، محمد أفلاح الهدوي وغيرهم.
