A world class Living Museum in Kutch, India. Focusing on traditional textile and other craft forms and their contemporary expressions by artisans & artists.

Shrujan Trust’s interest in crafts revival has motivated it to take its next big leap by establishing

The Living and Learning Design Centre. The LLDC is envisioned to be a multi-dimensional crafts education and resource centre. It is a one-of- its kind Living Museum wherein the fusion of antique and contemporary takes on crafts and embroidery create an eye opening exhibit for the viewer. This Design Centre will nurture the capacity of all the crafts in the region of Kutch, and make them relevant and marketable; therefore encouraging practising and aspiring craftspersons to earn through a prosperous livelihood of their own. In addition to showcasing the skills of the multiple communities, LLDC also works to preserve these crafts and aims to become a treasury of information for the traditional textiles and crafts of the region. Its thriving research department has currently taken on the task to trace the evolution of the embroideries and crafts in multiple communities. Gallery 1 of LLDC has recently inaugurated its second show which celebrates the awe-inspiring embroidery and crafts of these communities. Apart from this, a well stocked library and three crafts studios are also open to those interested in learning about these crafts. The recognition and preservation of these crafts is of utmost importance and LLDC dedicates itself to fulfil this mission.

We are honored to introduce Neeraj Parkar, speaker at the upcoming "Patterns of Fashion: Across Europe and India" Global Symposium, co-hosted by LLDC and The School of Historical Dress (London).

His session, "Documenting Kutch’s Traditional Menswear: From Structure to Contemporary Interpretation," presents a research-led study tracing regional garment construction through archival documentation, draping, and hands-on reconstruction into contemporary design practice.

Join scholars, artisans, and fashion historians for this landmark two-day event.

Wazirbhai No Vaarso | Now Open ✨

A new exhibition at LLDC Craft Museum brings together “Wazirbhai No Vaarso – Textile Treasures from the Collection of A. A. Wazir.”

Featuring a selection from A. A. Wazir’s personal collection, the exhibition offers a glimpse into his discerning eye and deep appreciation for the artistry, traditions and cultural histories woven into textiles.

From intricate embroideries to garments and treasured textile traditions, each piece carries a story of craft, community and heritage.

The "Ravanhattha", known for its deep and haunting resonance, is an instrument, which creates more than just music. It evokes memories, emotions and stories of Kutch. With its bow, strings, resonator and handcrafted structure, it offers a glimpse into the richness of folk musical traditions.

Now available for viewing at the LLDC Music Gallery, the Ravanhattha invites you to explore the craft, sound and cultural significance of traditional instruments in an immersive setting.

Preserving heritage is an art in itself.

Every object at LLDC is carefully stored to protect its story and heritage. Across a collection of nearly 12,000 objects, fabrics, metals, wood and more, each is preserved using methods suited to their material, from flat storage and rolling to protective covering.

And alongside conservation practices lives traditional wisdom. Herbal potalis are used to help keep pests away, carrying age-old knowledge into the work of modern archiving.
