Shrujan Trust’s interest in crafts revival has motivated it to take its next big leap by establishing

The Living and Learning Design Centre. The LLDC is envisioned to be a multi-dimensional crafts education and resource centre. It is a one-of- its kind Living Museum wherein the fusion of antique and contemporary takes on crafts and embroidery create an eye opening exhibit for the viewer. This Des

ign Centre will nurture the capacity of all the crafts in the region of Kutch, and make them relevant and marketable; therefore encouraging practising and aspiring craftspersons to earn through a prosperous livelihood of their own. In addition to showcasing the skills of the multiple communities, LLDC also works to preserve these crafts and aims to become a treasury of information for the traditional textiles and crafts of the region. Its thriving research department has currently taken on the task to trace the evolution of the embroideries and crafts in multiple communities. Gallery 1 of LLDC has recently inaugurated its second show which celebrates the awe-inspiring embroidery and crafts of these communities. Apart from this, a well stocked library and three crafts studios are also open to those interested in learning about these crafts. The recognition and preservation of these crafts is of utmost importance and LLDC dedicates itself to fulfil this mission.

Ehsan Khatri from Bhuj - founder of a retail and manufacturing firm called Bandhani World, found the symposium to be amazing.

He was also a panelist at the event and he believed that such an exchange of ideas was necessary to solve a lot of common problems that many artisans and sellers face.

He thought it was a wonderful way to exchange ideas, think how the art can be nurtured for the future generation and connect with people who are passionate about bandhani.

A moment of profound pride and emotional significance for the 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝘂𝗷𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆!🏆✨

We are delighted to share that 𝗠𝘀. 𝗔𝗺𝗶 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗳, Managing Director of Shrujan and Managing Trustee of LLDC, has been honoured with the ‘𝗞𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗸𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗻𝗮 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲’ by the Kutch Royal Family.

This recognition is a beautiful tribute to the vision of our founder, the late Smt. Chandaben Shroff (lovingly known as Kaki). It was Kaki’s dream to ensure that the exquisite craft and dignity of Kutch’s artisans were recognized by the world. Carrying forward this legacy, Ami Shroff has dedicated her life to turning that vision into a reality through tireless perseverance. 🌿🙌

In a touching gesture, 𝗔𝗺𝗶 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝘂𝗷𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗟𝗗𝗖 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺, 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘀, believing that this honour belongs to every hand that works to keep our traditions alive.

Yesterday was International Dance Day and we are still feeling the rhythm of the folk traditions that form the heartbeat of Kutch. At LLDC, we often ask: where does the art end and life begin?

From the spirited Hudo of the Rabari community to the rhythmic Garba circles of Navratri, these dances are more than a performance—they are a prayer, an identity, and art in motion.

LLDC Shrujan has been a proud host of these traditional folk culture because in Kutch nothing is in isolation. The stitches and the dance are all inspired by nature. 🌿✨

For Zakiya Khatri from Bhuj, the symposium was more than just an event—it was an eye-opening experience.
Bringing together artists, designers, and entrepreneurs working in Bandhani under one roof, it created a space for meaningful exchange and new perspectives. She shared that living in Bhuj often limits exposure, but interactions with designers and creators from different regions expanded her understanding of how Bandhani can evolve.
Moments like these spark exploration, inspire new ideas, and help keep the craft alive in ever-evolving ways.
