🇮🇳 HAPPY 80th INDEPENDENCE DAY 🇮🇳

On this proud occasion, Air Force Association, Odisha extends warm greetings and best wishes to all Air Veterans, Sanginis, their families and fellow citizens.

As we celebrate 80 years of Independence, let us remember that the freedom we enjoy today was earned through the courage, sacrifice and service of countless individuals who believed that India was worth fighting for.

Freedom is not merely a privilege, it is a responsibility.

Let us honour their sacrifices by becoming citizens who are responsible, respectful, compassionate and united; citizens who contribute to the Nation, uphold its values and leave behind a better India for the generations to come.

🇮🇳 Be a good citizen. Be responsible. Be worthy of the freedom that others fought for.

Saluting the past. Celebrating the present. Inspiring the future.

Inspiring Young Minds. Building Future Leaders. 🇮🇳

Today, Air Force Association Odisha had the honour of conducting a Virtual Career Counselling Session for the students of Classes IX & X of Banjari SSD High School under the CSR initiative of Vedanta Aluminium, Kuraloi (A) North Coal Mine.

The programme began with a warm welcome by Ms. Janvi Choudhury, who graciously welcomed the dignitaries, teachers and students.

Our President, Air Commodore Arabinda Mohanty, VSM (Retd), addressed the gathering and inspired the students to dream big, remain disciplined and become responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the nation. He also highlighted the mission of Air Force Association Odisha in connecting with and mentoring the youth before inviting our Secretary to conduct the career counselling session.

The interactive session, delivered by Squadron Leader Atanu Kumar Panda (Retd), Secretary, Air Force Association Odisha, introduced students to the diverse career opportunities available in the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force, including Officer Entry, Agniveer, Technical Entry Schemes, specialist branches and emerging careers in defence technology.

Beyond career options, the session focused on the values that define true leadership, discipline, integrity, perseverance, physical fitness, continuous learning and service before self. The enthusiasm, curiosity and active participation of the students made the session both engaging and memorable.

A particularly heartwarming moment came at the conclusion of the programme, when all the students took the "Pledge", reaffirming their commitment to dream big, work hard, respect their parents and teachers, remain disciplined and become responsible citizens dedicated to the progress of our nation.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Ms. Yashvi Joshi, Assistant Manager – CSR, Kuraloi (A) North Coal Mine, Vedanta Aluminium, for her excellent coordination with the school and for providing Air Force Association Odisha with this meaningful platform to inspire young minds.

We also thank the Principal, teachers and staff of Banjari SSD High School for their wholehearted support and active participation.

At Air Force Association Odisha, we firmly believe that the strongest foundation for a secure and prosperous India lies in inspiring its youth with the right values, guidance and opportunities. We remain committed to mentoring the next generation and helping them realise their potential, whether in the Armed Forces or any other field of national service.

Dream Big. Prepare Well. Lead with Integrity. Serve the Nation.

Jai Hind! 🇮🇳

Air Commodore Arabinda Mohanty, VSM (Retd), President, Air Force Association Odisha, delivered an engaging and thought-provoking session on “Indian Air Force’s March Towards Atmanirbhar Bharat Through Indigenisation” at the prestigious Boeing BUILD 5.0 Bootcamp & Regional Finals, organised by KIIT Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI), Bhubaneswar.

Squadron Leader Atanu Kumar Panda 🇮🇳(Retd), Secretary, Air Force Association Odisha, also attended the event as a delegate and participated in interactions with industry leaders, innovators, startup founders and academia.

During his address, Air Commodore Mohanty highlighted the Indian Air Force’s remarkable journey towards self-reliance and emphasised that indigenisation is not merely an industrial initiative but a strategic necessity for national security and operational sovereignty.

Key areas covered during the session included:

🔹 India’s transition from a defence importer to a defence innovator.

🔹 The Indian Air Force’s achievements in indigenisation and the development of indigenous capabilities.

🔹 Strategic lessons from programmes such as Tejas and Astra, demonstrating the importance of design sovereignty and weapon sovereignty.

🔹 Emerging opportunities in Aero-engines, Drones, Anti-Drone Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber and Space Technologies.

🔹 Insights from the Russia–Ukraine conflict highlighting the importance of industrial capacity, supply chain resilience and sustainment sovereignty.

🔹 Opportunities for startups, MSMEs, researchers and students to contribute to India’s growing aerospace and defence ecosystem.

The session inspired participants to view Atmanirbhar Bharat not merely as a policy initiative, but as a national mission requiring collaboration among the Armed Forces, industry, startups, academia and young innovators.

As highlighted during the talk:

“A nation becomes truly independent not when it can buy what it needs, but when it can build what it cannot afford to be denied.”
