Undersecretary Adonis P. Sulit of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Philippines highlights the importance of prevention efforts that address inequality, support families, and strengthen safer communities.

His words reflect the growing commitment of governments across Southeast Asia to advance approaches that stop violence before it starts.

As we close the 16 Days of Activism 2025, the UN Joint Programme on Gender-Based Violence Prevention in Southeast Asia continues to work with governments, civil society, and local partners to strengthen evidence-based prevention. The Joint Programme is implemented by UN Women and UNFPA Asia and the Pacific, with support from the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Today is Human Rights Day. On this day, we recognize that ALL our partners are working towards expanding human rights through their activism.

From land rights in Latin America to domestic workers rights in India and abortion rights in East Africa, human rights are essential and interconnected– and they must be recognized, defended, and protected for every person, everywhere.

Around the world, our partners are reminding us that collective care is essential to human rights. On this Human Rights Day, read more about the women human rights defenders using collective care to strengthen their communities and activism with the link below.

Human rights are essential to daily life — and women’s and girls’ rights are at their core.

Yet around the world, conflict, discrimination, and rising online and offline violence are eroding those rights and denying women the justice and protection they are owed.

Thirty years after the Beijing Platform for Action, the world must deliver on its promise: dignity, equality, accountability — .

This , we’re calling for stronger justice systems, stronger protections, and stronger will to turn commitments into real change.

leads the way in breastfeeding support!

Thanks to the "Ley Amor Convertido en Alimento" (Love Turned into Food Law) and partnership with UNICEF, the European Commission, FIAP the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement and many others, El Salvador has achieved remarkable progress in childhood nutrition:

✨ 67.44% exclusive rate - surpassing the global 2025 target
🍼 400 lactation rooms implemented in workplaces and public spaces
👩‍⚕️Over 1,000 breastfeeding counsellors trained

69,000 babies have been born under this respectful care model proving that when we invest in breastfeeding support, we invest in healthier futures for our children.

This is what happens when governments, communities, and organisations work together!

Happy to note that CBSE has made it compulsory to introduce Daily Affirmations for children on an everyday basis in their curriculum. Positive affirmations instill a more positive mindset, confidence, resilience, calmness and self-image. By repeating affirmations, children can feel internalized upliftment in themselves, increasing their belief in their abilities and worth. After the sugar board introduction in schools by CBSE, this is the second good news.
