A visit by Dr. Madhura Swaminathan, Director at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), brought valuable perspectives on sustainable agriculture, farmer-owned enterprises and market-led growth to Puintala Pragati Farmer Producer Company Limited, promoted under the Central Sector Scheme for the Formation & Promotion of 10,000 FPOs, supported by NABARD - National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. During her visit, she toured the FPC office, processing centre, cafeteria and nearby villages and interacted with the Board of Directors, management team, staff and farmer shareholders.

Discussions focused on promoting nutritious rice varieties, quality seed production and indigenous pulses such as green gram, black gram and horse gram. Opportunities around processing, value addition, market linkages and strengthening farmer-owned enterprises were also explored. She engaged with stakeholders on the challenges and opportunities facing the FPC and shared insights on strengthening sustainable agricultural practices, improving market competitiveness and building a stronger, farmer-led enterprise.

Under the TDF-WADI Project in Gudvella, supported by NABARD - National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, guava sapling plantation was facilitated in the orchards of three farmers in Kanersingha village. The intervention supports farmers in diversifying their crops, creating long-term income opportunities and enhancing the productive potential of their land. Through WADI-based orchard development, farmers are encouraged to build stronger livelihoods while making better use of available natural resources.

Project Subhalaxmi Udyogini, supported by Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited, Jharsuguda, celebrated National Handloom Day 2026 on 7th August at the Vedsuta Handloom Training Centre in Jharsuguda. Handloom members, trainees, local representatives, project staff and Udyog Mitras gathered to honour the artisans who keep this craft alive and the part weaving plays in building a lasting livelihood. Trainees from the 7-month Basic Handloom Weaving Training spoke about their journey on the loom, and certificates were handed out to mark their completion of the course. The event also laid out the roadmap for a 6-month advanced handloom training set to begin soon.

Under the Agriculture Production Cluster (APC) Project, supported by the Government of Odisha, 3,200 grafted brinjal saplings were distributed to five farmers across three villages in Jujomura Block. The project identified reliable nursery vendors to ensure access to quality planting material, thereby enabling farmers to procure superior grafted saplings at affordable prices. Farmers will receive end-to-end technical guidance through the Package of Practices (PoP) to promote improved crop management and higher productivity. The project adopts a cluster-based approach to strengthen the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers by promoting scientific cultivation practices, improving access to quality inputs and extension services, and enhancing market linkages.

The exhibition provided an opportunity to connect directly with customers, understand their preferences, and gather feedback. A Health Check-up Camp was organised on 3rd August 2026 at Odisha and Kaneipal villages in Bhuban Block of Dhenkanal, under Project Adhikaar with the support of TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited, bringing essential healthcare services closer to the community. The camp included general health screenings, free consultation, distribution of medicines, and an awareness session on preventive healthcare. Dr Ashutosh Mishra conducted the health examinations, and a total of 217 community members availed the services and received free medicines.

On the occasion of Sambalpuri Day, an awareness-cum-mass plantation drive under the theme "One Tree, One Farmer" was successfully organised at Guderpali, Bhatigaon, and Kundakhayi villages of Gaisilat Block in collaboration with the farmers and staff of Prakruti Sathi Farmer Producer Company Ltd, which was promoted under the Central Sector Scheme of NABARD - National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. The program witnessed active participation from farmers across the villages, demonstrating their collective commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture. The session highlighted the importance of tree plantation in improving air quality, enhancing soil fertility, conserving water, increasing biodiversity, mitigating the impacts of climate change, and creating additional livelihood opportunities through fruit, timber, and other tree-based resources.

As part of the observance of World Breastfeeding Awareness Week, VGCB Port, a Unit of Vedanta Group, organised a mega breastfeeding awareness camp in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals and the ICDS Department in the One Town area. It brought together 168 women, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, and mothers from the local community. Medical experts from Apollo Hospitals conducted awareness sessions on exclusive breastfeeding, maternal nutrition, infant care, and the importance of breastfeeding in ensuring the healthy growth and development of children. Additionally, school bags, water bottles, and uniforms were distributed to Anganwadi children to support early childhood education.
