Jeevanrekha Parishad is nurturing nature and livelihoods together through its Beekeeping and Crop Pollination initiatives under Project Madhu (Honey) in Odisha, India. Supporting more than 500 women beekeepers, the project promotes sustainable income, climate-resilient farming, and biodiversity conservation. Beekeeping not only enhances honey production but also improves crop yield through natural pollination, strengthening local food systems. By empowering women with skills, resources, and market linkages, Jeevanrekha Parishad is building eco-friendly livelihoods while protecting forests, farms, and ecosystems. Healthy bees, empowered women, and a greener Odisha—this is sustainable development in action. 🍯🌼🐝

🌱 Organic Grafted Brinjal Farming Transforming Livelihoods in Kulurukumpa, Daspalla 🌱

Under the support of Jeevika Trust, farmers in Kulurukumpa Panchayat are successfully cultivating high-quality organic grafted brinjals, earning Rs. 20 per kg compared to Rs. 12 per kg for non-organic vegetables. These fields have now evolved into diversified multi-cropping vegetable plots, strengthening food security and income. Farmers are adopting vermi compost and Jeevamruta, reducing chemical use and improving soil health. This sustainable organic farming initiative is helping tribal and marginal farmers enhance productivity, access better markets, and build resilient livelihoods. A proud step towards greener and more profitable income.

🌱 Grafted Brinjal – A Smart Choice for Farmers

Grafted brinjal plants combine a strong, disease-resistant rootstock with a high-yielding brinjal variety. This innovation offers multiple benefits to farmers:

Higher Income: Grafted plants show 30–50% more yield and longer fruiting period, ensuring better market returns with reduced crop loss.

Low Input & Organic Advantage: The strong root system resists wilt, nematodes, and soil-borne diseases, reducing pesticide use and aligning with organic farming practices.

Sustainable Intercropping: Farmers can intercrop grafted brinjal with vegetables or pulses like cowpea or coriander, improving land productivity and soil health.

Climate Resilience: Grafted plants tolerate drought and soil salinity better, providing stability in changing weather conditions.

Grafted brinjal thus supports the organic movement, income diversification, and sustainable agriculture for small and marginal farmers.
