Wow 😊, that moment was truly iconic! The Indian national anthem being presented in Indian Sign Language during the T-20 World Cup final was a beautiful display of inclusivity and respect 🙏. It's moments like these that make us proud of India's diversity and commitment to accessibility 💪. Kudos to the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Center and everyone involved in making it happen! 🌟

Thanks

SIBAJI PANDA’S SCHOOL IN LAKHANPUR EMPOWERS HEARING-IMPAIRED CHILDREN WITH INDIAN SIGN LANGUAGE, ECO-LEARNING, AND HOLISTIC EDUCATION.

Growing up in a remote Subarnapur village, hearing-impaired Sibaji Panda experienced firsthand the struggles faced by deaf children in India. After earning a master’s degree and PhD in special education abroad, Panda returned home to establish Happy Hands, a residential school led entirely by hearing-impaired educators.

The school, recognised by UNESCO in the 2025 report ‘Bhasa Matters’, offers inclusive, bilingual, and eco-centric education. Students learn Indian Sign Language (ISL) as their first language, with English, Odia, and Hindi taught as additional languages. Non-hearing-impaired staff are required to use sign language, ensuring a fully immersive environment.

Happy Hands admits 10–12 children annually from LKG/UKG, currently hosting around 70 students up to Class VIII. Education, boarding, and care are completely free, supported by voluntary funding. Alongside academics, students engage in gardening, eco-projects, and design-based learning, with vocational training planned for older students.

Panda’s model is seen as a pioneering blueprint for inclusive rural education for the deaf, combining language development, cognitive growth, and life skills.

I tried looking for more details on Sibaji Panda and his Republic Day invite, but find additional info beyond what you shared. It’s a wonderful recognition for his work with the divyang community with Happy Hands School for the Deaf in Odisha. You might want to try a search engine for the latest updates or more stories on his inspiring journey. 🙏✨

Odisha-based social worker Shivaji Panda has received a prestigious invitation to attend the upcoming Republic Day celebrations at Rashtrapati Bhavan, marking a moment of pride for Subarnapur district and the state at large. On the evening of Republic Day, Panda will also get the opportunity to meet the President of India, recognising his years of dedicated service to the divyang community.

A resident of Lakhanpur Eco Village under Ulunda block, Shivaji Panda is the founder of the ‘Happy Hand’ school for divyangas. Since 2017, he has been working relentlessly to build an inclusive eco-village model that combines education, care, and sustainable living. Currently, 79 divyangas from Odisha and other states reside at the facility, receiving education, shelter, and support.

His work has previously been acknowledged by several organisations, but the invitation from Raisina Hills marks his first national-level recognition. Family members and residents of the Eco Village have expressed immense joy over the honour, calling it a tribute to Panda’s passion, compassion, and long-standing commitment to social welfare.
