“Prathama Ma Milana” was successfully organized on 29 November at Banapur, Odisha, bringing together 10 dynamic Women-led SHGs under the aegis of IIT Bhubaneswar co-ordinated by DEFT. The groups showcased a vibrant range of products from soft toys, agarbatti, millet-based sweets and savouries to cane & bamboo crafts and sāl-leaf plates.
More than just a marketplace, the event became a space for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and opportunity-building for women entrepreneurs from the Chilika region.
Held under the project “Creating a Green Tourism Corridor along Chilika Lake” supported by the MacArthur Foundation, the event was graced by Shri Mitu Nayak, Chairperson, Banapur NAC, who appreciated the efforts of IIT Bhubaneswar and Team DEFT in empowering women for sustainable development.
Prof. Dukhabandhu Sahu (SHSS & M- IIT Bhubaneswar, PI of the project), Dr Arabinda Mishra (Chairperson, DEFT), Mr Somnath Chakraborty (Field Team Lead) and Biswaranjan Panda, Research Associate encouraged the participants with their presence.
Team DEFT seamlessly coordinated the event that led to an impressive footfall.
