Our Success Story ❤️
A Reason for Nurturing Local Leadership 💪

When Shivani reached out to Sarokar during the COVID-19 lockdown, she had one simple wish to do something for the families and children in her basti. She didn't have the confidence or understanding to lead a group, but she had the willingness to learn and serve.

Over the years, Sarokar became a space where Shivani discovered her voice. She learned, mentored children, led community activities, and gradually transformed into someone her neighbourhood could look up to. Along the way, our well-wishers also supported her education when she needed it.

Today, Shivani Borkar is perusing MDS. But what makes us happiest isn't just where she has reached, it's that she continues to remember her roots and inspire others to believe in themselves.

For us, Shivani is not just a success story, she is a reminder of why we invest in people, why we nurture local leadership, and why lasting change begins within communities themselves.

We're incredibly proud of you, Shivani. 🌱💜

Grateful for our volunteers 🩵

Rachana's contribution deserves to be celebrated not just for the skills she taught, but for the love, consistency and purpose she brought to every session.

Rachana wasn't just a teacher at **Khushiyon Ka Summer Camp**, she became a mentor, a guide and a constant source of encouragement for every child she met.

With incredible patience and creativity, she introduced children to the world of **purposeful art**. From jewellery making and sustainable paper bags to beautiful craft created using recycled and eco-friendly materials, every activity carried a deeper lesson, that creativity can go hand in hand with sustainability, and that small ideas can create meaningful change.

What made her contribution even more inspiring was her unwavering commitment. Every day, she travelled from one corner of Bhopal to another simply because she believed these children deserved her time and attention. Behind this commitment was another silent pillar of support, her husband Mr. Arvind, who would drop her to the camp, patiently wait throughout the sessions, and take her back home afterwards. Their shared dedication was so inspiring and motivating.

This is the kind of commitment that makes children feel safe. It is what builds trust, strengthens communities, and gives organisations like Sarokar the confidence to keep dreaming bigger. Thank you, **Rachana**, for choosing to give your time, your talent and your heart so generously.
Here's to art with purpose, compassion in action, and volunteers who inspire change one child at a time. 💜🌼

💜 GRATEFUL FOR OUR VOLUNTEER SHAHNAZ 💜

Some volunteers leave a great impact on children’s lives.

Throughout Khushiyon Ka Summer Camp, Shahnaz generously volunteered her time alongside her responsibilities as an educator and Sarokar's member. She taught children mehendi, supported their learning, facilitated activities, and encouraged them to explore new skills.

But what the children will probably remember most is not what she taught. It is the way she made them feel. The hugs. The laughter. The words of encouragement. The patient listening. The gentle guidance and yes, the occasional scolding that only someone who truly cares can get away with. 😊

By the end of the camp, it was impossible to miss the bond she had built with the children. They followed her around, squeezed into photographs beside her, leaned on her shoulders, and tried their very best not to let her leave.

Thank you, Shahnaz, for showing our children what care, kindness, and commitment look like in action. We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of the Sarokar family. 🌱✨

GRATEFUL FOR OUR VOLUNTEERS 💜

Some stories come full circle. 🌟

When Sarokar organised its early summer camps nearly a decade ago, Anjali and Nandini were among the children who walked into those spaces with curiosity, excitement, and dreams of their own.

This year, they returned, not as participants, but as volunteers.

Over the course of Khushiyon Ka Summer Camp 2026, they patiently taught children dance, mehendi, craft, and aerobics, shared their time and skills, and became mentors, friends, and role models for the next generation of children walking through Sarokar's doors.

Seeing Anjali and Nandini stand in front of the class, guiding and encouraging younger children, was more than volunteering—it was the continuation of a journey that began years ago.

We are incredibly proud of both of them and grateful for the warmth, commitment, and energy they brought to the camp. 🌱

May they continue to dream boldly, grow fearlessly, and inspire many more children along the way.

Today, there were tears because something beautiful came to an end.💜

Khushiyon Ka Summer Camp began as a month-long learning space, but somewhere between the dance practices, shared meals, difficult conversations, laughter, hugs, educational visits, and countless memories, it became much more than that.

Today, children held on a little longer to their friends, their teachers, and the volunteers who had become a part of their everyday lives. There were promises to stay in touch, requests for "just one more day," and tears from children who weren't quite ready to say goodbye.

For us, these moments are a reminder that children do not only remember what they learned. They remember how they felt, who listened to them, who believed in them, who celebrated them, and who made them feel loved.

We promised them to meet them every alternative weekend for our continued learning sessions💫

The camp may have ended, but the relationships, confidence, memories, and little pieces of each other that we carry forward certainly have not. 🌱

As part of Khushiyon Ka Summer Camp, the children were taken to watch *Return of the Jungle*, a film that beautifully weaves together themes of friendship, coexistence, and communal harmony. The experience was generously sponsored by the film's producer, Suranjana Kumaresh, with the support of Sarokar's well-wisher and guide, Kala Mohan Ma'am.

The film beautifully offered meaningful lessons that complemented many of the values and conversations children have been engaging with throughout the camp. What also stayed with us were the little moments around it, the excitement of stepping into a mall, helping friends find their way around, posing enthusiastically for photographs, sharing snacks, and experiencing the joy of watching a film together on the big screen.

For many children, this was their very first movie theatre experience.

Our heartfelt thanks to Suranjana Ji and Kala Mohan Ma'am for making this special day possible for our children.

On the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour, the children at Khushiyon Ka Summer Camp participated in a session facilitated by Sarokar’s founder, Kumud Singh, on understanding child labour through the lens of child rights.

Building on the children's existing understanding of rights and active citizenship, the session explored why child labour is not merely a social issue, but a violation of children's rights to education, health, safety, development, and dignity. Through discussions, stories, and real-life examples, children reflected on the physical, emotional, and educational impacts of child labour and the ways in which it limits opportunities and futures.

Particular attention was given to the intersection of gender and child labour, helping children understand how girls and boys often experience these vulnerabilities differently.

More importantly, the conversation reinforced a simple but powerful message: every child has the right to learn, play, grow, and dream and every one of us has a role in ensuring that these rights are protected.
