National Service Scheme, popularly known as N.S.S. is an extension dimension to the higher education system to orient the student youth to community service while they are studying in educational institutions, under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. National Service Scheme was launched on 24 September, 1969 by the then Education Minister Dr. V.K. Rao in 37 universities coverin
g all states . The motto or watch word of the National Service Scheme is “NOT ME BUT YOU”. The N.S.S. symbol is based on the rathnss_logo of wheel of the Konark Sun Temple situated in Orissa. The navy blue colour indicates the cosmos of which the NSS is a tiny part , ready to contribute its share for the welfare of the mankind. The Red colour in the badge indicates that the NSS volunteers are full of blood i.e. lively, active, energetic and full of high spirit. The giant wheels of the Sun Temple portray the cycle of creation. N.S.S. was launched on year 2010 in R.I.E-Bhopal. There was unit of 30 members in N.S.S. R.I.E-Bhopal. It is affiliated to BARKATULLAH UNIVERSITY, BHOPAL. Now the N.S.S. R.I.E-Bhopal is having unit of 60 members. Dr. Ashwini Garg is the Program Officer Of Boys Unit and Dr. Chotra Singh is the Program Officer of Girls Unit Of N.S.S. R.I.E- Bhopal. Under the aegis of N.S.S. , the volunteers have done so many jobs for the society, they have contributed their service to the society as well as the country with a dream of a corruptionless, progressful and powerful country.
