The Jhulan Yatra (Swing Festival) begins today till 28th August.

Jhulana Yatra is a cherished festival where devotees celebrate Radha and Krishna’s swinging pastimes (jhulana-līlā) in the groves of Vrindavan. It is observed during the bright half of the Śrāvaṇa month, a season filled with devotion, romance, and monsoon beauty.

This festival re-enacts the transcendental pastime where the sakhis (gopi friends) joyfully place Sri Radha and Krishna on a swing, pushing Them gently while singing, dancing, and offering flowers and sweets.

Hare Krishna!

Today is Pavitraropana Ekadashi. It is observed during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) in the month of Shravana. The word Pavitra means “purity” and Aropana means “offering” or “placing.” This sacred Ekadashi is closely associated with the ceremonial offering of sanctified threads or garlands to Lord Vishnu and marks a special opportunity for devotees to renew their commitment to devotional service.
Falling during the holy month of Shravana, Pavitraropana Ekadashi is considered highly auspicious for purification, spiritual advancement, and receiving the mercy of Lord Hari. It also marks the beginning of important devotional celebrations that culminate in the appearance of Lord Balarama and the Jhulan Yatra festival.
