AVANI is a voluntary organization working in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, located in the Central Himalayans. It is focused on creating livelihoods for the people of this area while conserving natural resources and working towards gender equality. AVANI revived the traditional skills of Natural dyeing, Hand spinning and Hand weaving in 1999 as a source of income for rural families.

From harvesting the leaves 🌱 to fermenting, processing, and finally creating vibrant natural hues, every step is done with care for people and the planet. ♻️ The leftover biomass returns to the soil as compost, while the water used is recycled for irrigation – ensuring nothing goes to waste.
