☀️🌡️ Heatwave Relief Initiative | Berhampur 🤝

The summer heat can be harsh, especially for those who work outdoors every day. To support vulnerable workers during this extreme weather, Youth for Social Development (YSD) distributed summer safety kits to 200 construction workers, rickshaw pullers, street vendors, and daily wage labourers in Berhampur. 💙

🎒 Each kit included: 💧 Water Bottle, ☂️ Umbrella, 🧢 Cap, 🧣 Towel, ⚡ Glucose

These simple yet essential items help workers stay hydrated, protected, and safer while earning their livelihoods under the scorching sun.

Today, adolescent girls and youth across Ganjam celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Day by speaking openly about periods as a natural part of life. 💬💪

Together, they challenged social taboos, broke the silence around menstruation, and promoted dignity, health, and gender equality. 🌍👧🏽 Boys and girls joined hands to spread the message that menstrual health is everyone’s responsibility. 🤝🩸

Through discussions, activities, and community engagement, young people became voices of change — building confidence, awareness, and a stigma-free future for all. 🌟

Let’s continue creating a world where no girl feels ashamed of her period. ❤️

Every year, thousands of Olive Ridley sea turtles return to the Odisha coast for mass nesting — one of the world’s most extraordinary natural events. From to , these gentle ocean navigators remind us of the deep connection between nature, communities, and climate resilience. 🌍

But their survival is under growing threat due to:
⚠️ Climate change
⚠️ Coastal erosion
⚠️ Marine plastic pollution
⚠️ Ghost nets & unsafe fishing practices
⚠️ Habitat destruction and artificial lighting

🌊 Driving Climate Action Through Youth-Led Community Partnerships 🌎

We’re excited to announce that Youth for Social Development (YSD) is partnering with Restless Development under the Inclusion Youth Fund to launch “Rising Tides, Rising Youth: Strengthening Coastal Communities in Ganjam, Odisha.”

Together, we will work with coastal communities to strengthen climate resilience, protect marine ecosystems, and empower young people as climate leaders and changemakers. 🌱

From beach clean-ups and conservation campaigns to citizen science, digital advocacy, and youth engagement with local governance this initiative places young people at the heart of climate action. 💙

The project will engage vulnerable fishing communities, women, and youth from coastal villages including , , and in Odisha.

🌊 Youth at the Helm: Safeguarding Coastal Biodiversity from Sand to Sea 🐢

At the beautiful Rushikulya River Mouth, thousands of Olive Ridley hatchlings are making their first journey to the ocean fragile, vulnerable, yet full of hope.

This year, 50+ trained youth volunteers from YSD, with support from Youth4Water Plus and training by Dakshin Foundation, have stepped up as true guardians of the coast.

💪 Working closely with the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), forest officials, and the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF), they are ensuring every hatchling gets a safe start to life.

✨ Their efforts include:
🐢 Protecting hatchlings from threats
🐢 Guiding them safely to the sea
🐢 Creating safe pathways
🐢 Supporting forest department teams
🐢 Spreading awareness among communities

💙 Impact:
Since April 30, 2026, 5,000+ hatchlings safely released into the sea!

Their understanding of biodiversity and ecosystems is transforming them into true custodians of our coast.
