Live discussion from Padampeta Beach, Block Ganjam, Odisha

Padampeta is a coastal village in Ganjam that is slowly being swallowed by the sea. Which is totally silent village now without no one there. Only some brocken houses left. Every year, during high tides and monsoon, heavy sea waves hit the village, eroding the shoreline and taking away houses, farmland and coconut trees. Families who have lived there for generations are forced to shift further inland every year, losing not just their land but also their livelihood and identity. Without strong sea protection walls and rehabilitation support, the village map of Padampeta is shrinking year after year.
Let's hear what the villagers and Sarpanch speak..
