📅 Date: 8 November 2025

🌟 Facilitating Aadhaar Enrolment for Children & Care Leavers in CCIs 🌟

On 17th October 2025, the Assam Care Leavers’ Association (ACLA) officially submitted a request to the Officer-in-Charge, Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, Lachitnagar, Guwahati, seeking support for Aadhaar enrolment and biometric updates for Care Leavers and children residing in Child Care Institutions (CCIs), including Snehalaya.

Many children and care leavers still do not have Aadhaar numbers or require biometric updates as per UIDAI guidelines. Recognizing the importance of Aadhaar for accessing education, healthcare, and welfare schemes, ACLA took this proactive step to ensure that no child or care leaver is left behind.

The letter further requested the authorities to conduct an on-site Aadhaar Enrolment Camp at Snehalaya, making the process easier and more accessible for all.

💪 This initiative reflects ACLA’s continuous commitment to strengthening identity documentation and enabling access to essential services for children and care leavers across Assam.

State Level Consultation on Non-Institutional and Family-Based Care

A new learning experience for us — the Assam Care Leavers’ Association (ACLA) — to be part of the State Level Consultation on Non-Institutional and Family-Based Care held on 16–17 October 2025 in Guwahati, organized by Aide et Action under the SACRA Project, in collaboration with State Child Protection Society (SCPS), Assam, and supported by UNICEF India.

It was an inspiring space where voices from UNICEF, SCPS, Aide et Action, and care leavers came together to discuss how Assam can:
✨ Move towards family-based and community-based care
✨ Strengthen foster care, adoption, and aftercare systems
✨ Build a sustainable roadmap for child protection reforms

For us, as care leavers, it was truly empowering to be heard and included in conversations shaping the future of care in Assam.
We thank Aide et Action, SCPS, and UNICEF India for this opportunity to share our experiences and contribute towards reimagining care for every child.

Together, we believe —
🌱 Every child deserves not just care, but a family. 🌱

🌸 Celebrating Daan Utsav with Love, Learning & Laughter! 🌸

We celebrated Daan Utsav with a special awareness session on the Assam Care Leavers Association (ACLA) — sharing our vision of empowering care leavers across Assam to build stronger, independent futures. 💪✨

During the session, Halema also shared about her journey as a LIFT Fellow, and how this fellowship has strengthened her mission to support care leavers through meaningful projects and community initiatives.

We also had a heartfelt discussion on how young people from Child Care Institutions (CCIs) can better connect and reintegrate with society — understanding challenges, building confidence, and creating supportive communities. ❤️

The day was filled with joy — from ice-breaking games and outdoor activities to a reflective session on dreams, future planning, and aftercare support. 🍀
We ended the day by distributing sweets, celebrating kindness, togetherness, and the spirit of giving! 🍬💛

✨Empowering Care Leavers with Digital Safety – Cyber Security Session ✨

✨ACLA organised a meaningful and informative session on Cyber Security for care leavers. The session was led by Aamir, a passionate care leaver from Jammu & Kashmir and a current LIFT Fellow. ✨

As part of his LIFT Fellowship, Aamir is working on a project focused on creating awareness about online safety among care leavers across India. Through this initiative, he is helping young people understand how to protect themselves in the digital space — from avoiding scams and phishing to using strong passwords and staying safe on social media.

His session covered practical tips, real-life examples, and step-by-step guidance on how we can all take small actions to ensure our personal data and online presence remain secure.

🙌 A big thank you to Aamir for leading this powerful conversation and showing how care leavers are stepping up to educate, lead, and protect each other in today’s digital world.

🤗Stay tuned for more such learning sessions from ACLA!
