The Department of Management Studies, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, in collaboration with IEEE North Karnataka Sub-Section, successfully organized the Startup Saga competition on 25th August 2025 at the Senate Hall, VTU.

The event commenced with an invocation song by Miss Driti, IEEE NKSS Volunteer, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Pralhad Rathod, Chairperson, Department of Management Studies. A floral welcome and the symbolic watering of the plant by dignitaries marked the inauguration of the program. Miss Snehal, MBA Research Scholar, introduced the distinguished resource persons, Ms. Jyoti D. Nimbal, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, VRJ Energy Solutions, and Shri K.E. dikeshava Prakash Sastry, B.E., MBA, Trainer and Startup Funding Mentor. They shared their expertise with the participants, offering valuable insights into entrepreneurship, innovation, and startup funding. Dr. Pralhad Rathod and Dr. Deepti Shetty later presented mementos to the resource persons in recognition of their contribution.

Miss Aishwarya K. Nesari, Research Scholar, Department of Management Studies, served as the Master of Ceremony and also introduced the workshop, ensuring the smooth conduct of the proceedings. The competition featured several innovative business ideas presented by student teams, demonstrating their creativity, analytical approach, and entrepreneurial mindset.

The results of the competition were announced with Team Cognisync declared as the Winners and Team Rice Glow as the Runners-Up. The program concluded with an address by Mr. Abhishek Deshmukh, Chair, IEEE NKSS, followed by the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Deepti Shetty, Department of Management Studies.

The Startup Saga initiative not only celebrated the innovative spirit of young minds but also encouraged them to take meaningful steps forward in their entrepreneurial journeys, reaffirming VTU’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering impactful ideas.

The grand inaugural ceremony of IDEATHON 2025 was held on 23rd August 2025 at Senate Hall, VTU Campus, Belagavi, bringing together distinguished dignitaries, faculty, and students for a vibrant start to this innovative journey.

The program began with a soulful invocation rendered by Ms. Amruta Patrot, B.Tech student from the Dept. of ECE, VTU, followed by the Welcome Address by Dr. Meghana Kulkarni, Chairperson, Dept. of ECE, who highlighted the significance of such platforms in nurturing young innovators and fostering a culture of research-driven problem-solving.

The dignitaries proceeded with the Lighting of the Lamp, symbolizing wisdom and knowledge, and the release of the official Proceedings of IDEATHON 2025.

Dr. Parameshachari B.D., Chair, IEEE CEDA Bangalore Chapter, shared an Insight into IDEATHON 2025, underlining how this initiative is shaping the future of engineering students by promoting critical thinking, creativity, and industry readiness.

Ms. Aishwarya N. Payannavar, Asst. Professor, Dept. of ECE, VTU, introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. Tin Phone Kyaw, President, IEEE Myanmar Subsection, who was then felicitated by the dignitaries.

In his Inaugural Address, Dr. Tin Phone Kyaw emphasized the importance of cross-border collaborations in innovation. He encouraged students to leverage the global IEEE platform to bring transformative ideas to life and stressed that ideathons play a pivotal role in connecting academia with real-world challenges.

Dr. B.E. Rangaswamy, Registrar, VTU, in his address, appreciated the organizing team for creating a platform that empowers students to take bold steps toward technological innovations and highlighted the university’s commitment to supporting such initiatives.

Dr. T.N. Sreenivasa, Registrar (Evaluation), VTU, spoke on the importance of aligning student projects with societal needs. He inspired participants to not just innovate but also ensure that their ideas are impactful and sustainable in the long run.

Representing IEEE Bangalore Section, Dr. Chengappa M.R., Vice Chair (TA) & Academic Senate Member, VTU Belagavi, addressed the gathering, stressing the need for research collaborations between academia and industry. He urged participants to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to innovation and make meaningful contributions to technology.

The dignitaries were honored with IEEE mementos as a token of appreciation for their contributions.

Finally, the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Prof. Abhishek Deshmukh, Chair, IEEE NKSS, KLS GIT, Belagavi, who acknowledged the efforts of organizers, speakers, and participants in making IDEATHON 2025 possible.

The event was seamlessly anchored by Ms. Shrutika Nakadi, Asst. Professor, Dept. of ECE, VTU Belagavi, who served as the Master of Ceremony. With her poised and engaging presentation, she ensured a smooth flow of the program while keeping the audience connected throughout.
The ceremony concluded with a group photo session, capturing the spirit of collaboration and innovation that IDEATHON 2025 stands for.

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, in association with IEEE Bangalore Section, successfully organized the Principals’ Forum on 9th June 2025 at Chancery Hall, Radisson Blu Hotel Atria, Bengaluru. The forum served as a vital platform to foster deeper academia-industry collaboration, with a focus on preparing students for real-world challenges. The event began with a welcome address by VTU Registrar, Prof. B.E. Rangaswamy, who extended his greetings to the delegates from IEEE Bangalore Section and Principals of VTU-affiliated colleges. The forum was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Surendra Pal, Senior Scientist, ISRO-Bangalore, who shared visionary thoughts on the role of academic institutions in driving innovation, research, and national development. Dr. Parameshachari B.D., Chair, CEDA, IEEE Bangalore Section, and Dr. Chengappa, Vice-Chair, IEEE Bangalore Section, also addressed the gathering and expressed their commitment to strengthening technical education in Karnataka. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of VTU, Dr. Vidyashankar S., delivered the Presidential Remarks and emphasized the importance of making engineering graduates industry-ready. He officially launched VTU’s Internship Platform, designed to connect students with structured, skill-oriented industrial training opportunities. Key discussions included the development of an industry-relevant curriculum, an introduction to the KAICE Master Practitioner Program to build advanced competencies, and a proposal for a forthcoming Industry Conclave to enhance academic engagement with industry leaders. The forum concluded with an open discussion, encouraging Principals to share ideas and collaborate actively to align institutional goals with national priorities in education and innovation. VTU Dean Academics Dr. Sadashiv Gowda along with Faculties, Special Officers of VTU Muddenahalli, Nagarbhavi and Mysuru were present.
